Hello lurker here just wanted to say well done on the decluttering and how much I admire you and all the things you achieve. I would love to visit your shop but sadly I'm a bit far from you not many sewing shops left now a days.

I've got a question if you don't mind I do like sewing and can make my own clothes just not done it for a while so mainly repairs and bits of alterations I do now. My beloved Husqvarna sewing machine that's 25 years old is not happy to feed the fabric through anymore. I think it suffered when I put a new tape on some very heavy curtains. My question is it worth getting it repaired or should I just get a new one? I have only ever owned a Husqvarna but open to suggestions. I don't do embroidery so wouldn't need anything fancy. By the way I own an overlocker that's fine and I use a lot it's a Singer. If you can post I migth be able to buy from your shop not sure if that's practical I'm London. Sorry I know you're really busy and that is actually two questions.

Sounds like the timing may have slipped when you were doing the heavy duty work. It may just need a service.
I would ask for a quote for a service but tell them that you want advance information if it requires new parts then you can assess if it is cost affective for you.
We can courier Machines to you.
If you take a look at Silver machines website I sell all their machines. I don't have all in stock. (We sold another one today), but can have them dispatched within 48 hours.
Or you could look for second hand or ex display models to keep costs down.

I am currently sitting in A& E with Dgd. Possible damage to her wrist. We will know more after an X Ray.
I have managed to swap a desk with Biggest today, the wall unit has been collected and I have shuffled furniture around until I could take up the carpet. What a work out that was on my own. But I have done it.
I will be sorting through more bags of stuff during the evenings while watching TV as to move furniture I had to empty it. So rather than out everything back ( except for the books), it's in bags first.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Mooloo, you are really getting stuck into things, well done!

I hope Dgd has not sustained any major injury to her wrist.
    It's not difficult!

Thank you so much that is really helpful I'll look at that brand and get back to you. I'm not sure there is anywhere local for repairs. It hasn't been serviced for years.

Hope dgd is ok and nothing worse than a sprain.

Mooloo if you have any cotton fabric you want rid of project Linus is an organisation where people make quilts for sick babies and children in hospital. There are groups all over the country. Here is a link to a list of areas with people to contact.

    Hope your dgd is ok.

Dgd has to go back to the fracture clinic this morning. Lucky I had the lie in yesterday. It feels like a very long weekend off having only briefly popped into work on Friday. I came home early on Thursday, there wasn't enough work, but my friend has kept it open and my week coming up is full of appointments etc and she also sold a sewing machine for me yesterday.
I only have 3 left to sell, any others will have to be ordered in!
But I am not going to be doing that unless I get masses of enquires as I am trying to sell off as much as possible.

Talking of machines I have a lovely treadle machine hidden behind the fabric in the shop. I don't know if I will have space to keep it, even though it does work. Certainly won't if I don't build a purpose built workshop. I will probably have to get rid of my collection of old machines. I will struggle to have space for them.
That will be the hardest to part with, my old things. The fabric is a little difficult but not as much as the machines. But it must be done. I already have masses of curtain fabric pieces at home that need to be either made up or moved on!
I think I need to get back to my make a day challenge. Every evening when I get home. (Or perhaps two makes a day!) to make any inroads in my stocks!

    Update
Dgd has only soft tissue damage and thankfully no broken bones!
    Home again now.

Not much cotton in my stash, but I will make a note of them for future reference.
