Hello everyone. I'm new to this thread but have always been a big reader. I'm trying to read more on my commute instead of wasting time staring into space. I'm reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau at the moment. It is a very OS book! :rotfl:Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...0

I love readingall the recommendations from everyone - some great titles and info thank you. I just finished A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles which my sister in law had read and loved and bought for me too. Really enjoyed the whole premise of the story. Now reading - The Tattooist of Auscwitz by Heather Morris which was recommended by a friend. So far so good but quite stark and harrowing as expected.
Have bought books 5-10 of the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths to read after current book- love these books about a forensic archaeologist in Norfolk. Phew! Better crack on...0 -
The book I'm reading next week is Reset - how to restart your life and get FU money - David Sawyer.
I just saw that someone else on MSE read it too.:cool:VfM4meplse wrote: »Noooo!

Have just finished "Sovietstan" by Erica Fatland which I really enjoyed. It's a travelogue through the former bits of Russia ie Uzbekistan, Tajikistan etc that have become independent since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Am currently half way through "A Savage Dreamland" by David Eimer. Another travelogue but this time through Burma it's history and troubles.0 -
Recently read the following:
'The Librarian of Auschwitz'- very thought provoking and based on a true story- by Lilit Zekulin
The Secret life of Bees - Sue Monk Kid- set in 1950's deep South of USA
The Trouble with Goats & Sheep by Joanna Cannon- set in 1976 small UK town
All very different but very interesting, would recommend.
(They may have been mentioned previously but I don't have the patience to trawl thro the whole thread with an unresponsive mouse!!
Apologies)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
