I've just reread The Book Thief. Wonderful!
Just finished This is Going to Hurt, by Adam Kay, a former doctor. I found it upsetting; both because of the pressures and understaffing in the NHS, but his accounts of women in labour were too close to my experience of neglect. Never go into labour on a Sunday.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I haven't checked in, in ages. I've read a few since I last posted:
Never Let Me Go by K. Ishiguro - Absolutely amazing, will stay with me a long time
The Sportwriter by Richard Ford - A struggle!
I'm currently reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, which I'm enjoying but I think it's quite long as I've been reading it nearly 2 weeks, or maybe I just haven't been reading as voraciously as normal.
Next for book club is Jazz by Toni Morrison.0 -
MandM, I loved Never Let Me Go. Found The Goldfinch hard going and didn't care much about the characters. Over-long.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

The book I started reading last week was called Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness
by Richard H. Thaler, Cass R. Sunstein.
I only got a couple of chapters in as I found it very dull. I am going to try another chapter today and if I still don't like it I will just delete it. I only paid £2 for it and it is annoying as I read lots of good reviews.
Next week is a Syd Moore novel. Strange Tombs. I thought I read this one already, but apparently not.:)0 -
The Book People are having a sale and a £5 discount code with free delivery over £25 so I splurged. I have ordered two sets of toddler books for grand daughter and treated myself to a set of "The Flaxborough Chronicles" which I read ** cough, years ago and used to love as well as three Anthony Horowitz books. At less than £2 a book I fell downright thrifty!"This site is addictive!"

Finished the Goldfinch, finally! I really really enjoyed it, but it was loooong.
Jazz by Toni Morrison next. We've also been listening to His Dark Materials as a family on audiobook.0 -
Ive been rereading a few books as we've started a book group in our little close.
The Lewis Trilogy by Peter May was even more enjoyable the second time around as i saw the beauty of his writing.
Fall of Giants. Ken Follett. Complex, very detailed, a bit like reading AJP Taylor on the causes of WW1. Worth it though.
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Good, early feminist stuff. I'd forgotten how good. Main character is a bit too worthy,,though. Great for discussion.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I deleted that boring Nudge book!
I didn't read the Syd Moore one as I read a book on Intermittent Fasting instead.
The Intermittent Fasting Impact For Women: Unlock the Hidden Secrets to Skyrocket Fat Loss and Balance Your Hormones for Those Who Hate Diets - Michael Zollo.
I then started reading a book I heard about on a Dr Chatterjee podcast.
The Circadian Code: Lose weight, supercharge your energy and sleep well every night - Dr Satchin Panda.
It's split into three parts so I read the first part yesterday. I will read the second part today and the third part tomorrow so I will have read two books this week. Pretty good considering I haven't been very good with reading this year. It's maybe because the weather is getting worse and it's nice to curl up indoors with a book.:)2025 GOALS

Richard Thaler is the doyenne of all things nudge-y, he won a Nobel Prize for his work on behavioural economics.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
