    Am definitely on a roll.......

Finished this last night & really enjoyed it.

Erin & Mark are a typical modern professional couple who seem to have the world at their feet but things start going wrong when Mark loses his highly paid job just before their wedding.

Regardless they go on their very luxurious, but expensive, honeymoon where they make a discovery that is totally life changing.

The story seemed very realistically written & whilst I'm not sure it could be a film I could see it as a drama series.

Well I'm certainly on a roll!

Just finished this & I really enjoyed it.....I often stayed up far later than I should have so that I could read that one extra chapter

Lydia & Bel are childhood friends who are chalk & cheese & you follow how that relationship deals with the hand that life deals each of them including the ultimate test.

Believable characters as well as a believable story - again you could envisage this as a mini drama.

Oh, I had forgotten this thread! So many books read since I last posted.

    The best:

    Paris Echoes. Sebastian Faulkes
    The Librarian of Auschwizt.
    The Lewis Man.
The Black House. Both by Peter May

    And the outstanding:

A Long, Long Way Home. By Sebastian Barry.

Barry has pushed David Lodge from his pedestal as my favourite author.

I have enjoyed all of Claire North's books, but my absolute favourite is 'The sudden appearance of Hope', brilliant! Also love Frederick Backman, ' Scandal' ( or 'Beartown' ), the same book weirdly, and the sequel the title of which escapes me atm: Brit Marie was here. Enjoying your recommendations, thanks.

I haven't posted in ages and just realised that I read 15 books in the meantime....

    Harrys Tree - Joe Cohen

The forgotten Garden - Kate Morton

The keeper of lost things - Ruth Hogan
Quite a funny read, a bit strange at times but certainly entertaining

The Hotel Quadriga triology by Jenny Glanfield
Have read books one and too (Hotel QUadriga and Victoria) for at least ten times in the past, but it was only the second time that I read the last book, Children of their time, too. I always disscover new details and things I've quite forgotten about and still cry over the death of two of my favourite characters.

The Chilbury Ladies Choir - Jennifer Ryan
Really well written, love the change between the narrators.

    October Man - Ben Aaronovitch
I like the Rivers of London books more, but it was still a rather nice - and quick - read

    Old Baggage - Lissa Evans
The book I was kind of waiting for, the prequel of Croked Hearts which I ready a while ago and probably the best book I've read so far this year. Can't say what caught me so much, the writing is very colourful and fun

The Road to Little Dribbing - Bill Bryson
    Laughed so much!

The night watch - Sarah Waters
The story is told backwards in three parts, each with 3 years in between. This might sound boring but it is very interessting to see the story develop while you read and to finally understand things. I had lightbulb moments until the last page.

Plus four German books not - yet - translated into English.

It took me a while to find this thread.

I have hardly read any books this year!

I decided to read half of a book I bought for £0.99 earlier this year. The Miracle Morning - Hal Elrod. It's a self help book on how to improve all aspects of your life. I will read the rest tomorrow.

I got a few ideas that I want to implement in my life now the season has changed as I need to make sure I pay attention to my mental health when the days get darker.

    Meditate 10 minutes every morning.

    Get daylight everyday.

Walk outside at least 5 times a week.

Read one book a week, I have about 50 of them on my kindle at the moment!:o

Make sure I get at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and batch cook each week.

I haven't posted on this thread for ages! We're entering week 41 and I have read 40 books so far this year, and plenty part-finished.

Its probably easiest to write a list with ratings at the end of the year.
