  • Ooh thanks for that Silvasava - I'll swing by tomorrow. I will probably try and buy a few if I can so I can have a nice big bank of them, so I can have enough for cutting. I love them in vases but they are very expensive to buy as cut flowers.

Chanie.....yeah I'm just being gentle with myself and trying not to think or feel too much. I have got little outings planned for every day this week, nothing special, mainly just seeing friends for coffees or a drink in the evening. Just keeping occupied so I don't have time to think or wallow in misery....:rotfl: I'm sure I'll be fine again after the next weekend.

I've just rewatched It's Complicated. I love the kitchen in that film and that's the look I'm aiming for - sort of French farmhouse meets shabby chic. I already have the arch between the kitchen diner and the big farmhouse table painted pale grey, so I'm half way there.....:rotfl: just need to get the plastering finished and then I can get busy with the paint brushes and rollers.

Managed to mow the lawn, it was rather wet so it was hard work and I didn't do a great job. It will do for now.

Tired now, so an early night with my book.

    G'night y'all.

LL - just flying by again! Don't forget Paeonys don't like being planted deeply. A bank of them would be stunning!
Your plan for this week sounds good - a gentle hug from me.
I'm in the process of combining my kitchen and dining room. The dividing wall has been taken down, the walls and ceilings replastered and the floor tiled. I've got the kitchen planned out but it won't be fitted until the summer. I do find making all the decisions a bit draining though!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Hi Silva. Thanks for the heads up on Asda plants.

I popped in this morning, bought 3 peonies, 1 pack of mixed Asian lilies, and one pack of Bleeding Hearts. £10 the lot. Absolute bargains. Looks like they are selling fast, some of the summer bulbs had sold out already. Not surprised at those prices. So thanks again for the advice. I really appreciate it. Starting a garden from scratch can be an expensive business so the more I can shop around for bargains the better.

Sounds like you are making good progress with your kitchen. I know what you mean about making decisions. It can be quite exhausting. The thing is mistakes can be costly, especially if we have to pay for trades or professional help, so I guess we need to try and can get it right first time. So time spent planning and thinking is probably time well spent.

After spending so much on the bathroom I really can't afford to splurge on a new kitchen this year so I shall make do with a makeover rather than a complete refit. It will be a big job, with a lot of painting but I can take my time. I can at least do the painting myself and save money that way. I have already picked up some curtains for the patio door.£3 Charity shop bargain....:D. Duck egg blue, should be nice with the grey table etc.

It's another fantastic day. I am actually sat here in a sleeveless top. I don't have any shorts so I have just attacked a pair of jeans with the scissors so I can get the sun on my legs. Just soaking up the vitamin D whilst I get che chance.

This false spring probably won't last much longer so I making the most of it. The inside jobs will still be there when it's raining. :rotfl:

    Good Afternoon

Well I had a great time in New York. I walked around 25k steps each day, bought some stuff, eat some (lots) of things. I have put on 4lbs, but it was completely worth it and I will lose that by next Monday's weigh-in.

We went to see The Waitress on Broadway, it was OK, but I have seen better. Bought a lovely coach bag and a couple of coach wristlets. I didn't have to pay for excess luggage at the airport, which is good (and rare!!)

I have the rest of this week off of work, so I will be clearing my wardrobe out.

The weather is amazing, but sadly won't last, so I shall open all the windows whilst i start clearing the clothes mountain.

You've got a good plan there SSDD23. Your DH was good to get involved in choosing some styles with you.:) I've always shopped on my own although I do take advice both on here and from fashion pages. What do others do?
Re choosing clothes. Nowadays I tend to shop alone but when my husband was fit and well we used to shop together, helping each other with our respective purchases. I used to love his input. He had a great eye and he always helped me chose well.

I have always previously shopped alone but I am actively trying to get out of my comfort zone with clothes now and I must admit OH does choose things that look nice so it's helpful and nice that he is happy to get involved!

I am going back to the gym tonight for the first time in a long time, always a bit nervy before going to the gym for the first time in ages, especially as its a small one in the town we have moved to. I get anxiety over the smallest things such as having to go in and ask where various bits and pieces are, or how busy the car park is going to be (it's a shared entry/exit which is one car wide) but I am determined to push through it.

Tomorrow morning will be the second of three treatments I bought on holiday for my hair, its a Pantene one that says it's a 9 day treatment (one tube every three days). My hair felt nice after the first treatment, so if it feels really good after the 9 days is done I will have to see if it's available in the UK.

I've booked today to get my nails done with my nan on Saturday, I can't remember the last time I had them done properly so I am very much looking forward to that.

Hope everyone is keeping well x
  • I'm having a bath with my new bath oils tonight along with a new scented candle I bought.

I'm defuzzing my legs, using a pore strip, plucking my eyebrows, using a face mask and putting on body lotion afterwards.:)

I cannot believe the weather here, I have to go out tomorrow and I think it will be vest top and light cardigan weather.

I want to go to Superdrug to buy some fruity shower gels and some more of the Garnier shampoo and conditioner. I really like them.

good evening all you glamour pusses. I have a moral dilemma. Tomorrow I should be going for training in connection with my work, its not compulsory but I have to do so many hours in a year and I missed the last session. Thing is I have my last appointment at the college for a galvanic facial treatment tomorrow too, which I already rearranged due to a hospital appointment. Now, to whom should I make my excuses?
In other news, I had decided to slowly give my bedroom a makeover, gathering accessories in my chosen colours awaiting the rewire to do the deed. So I got myself two new lamps and a new bedside chest last week. This week my oven shuffled off its mortal coil so had to get a new one, an expense I could have done without after spending on the bedroom. Ah well such is life, I'll just have to tighten the belt in other areas to make up the cash.
    Keep fabbing my lovelies.

  • The gym was not as bad as I was expecting yesterday, I found out before going that you can use the massive school car park next door if you're using the gym, so that was stress-free! I did however make the mistake of wearing a long sleeved top and full length bottoms - the air con was almost non-existent. I also didn't need to pay for a replacement gym card which was a bonus as I'm using to having to pay at their other sites. I do, however, need to track down an old £1 coin or old shaped coin token for the lockers...

The hair treatment was good, it's feeling rather nice, I just need to pick up another barrel brush to have a bit more control when I'm drying it, as the ends look a bit fluffy and flyaway :rotfl:

I think it would depend upon which appointment is the easiest to cancel. If you have to do XXX amount of CPD per year, then I assume there will be other opportunities throughout the year. If not, then maybe give the beauty treatment a call and see if they can reschedule.

  • You fabbers are putting me to shame with your trips to New York, the gym and facials !

I’ve started my face gradual tanner though which has taken the white glare off and if I keep it up might make my eventual new smile look even whiter - I shall glow in the dark :D
