  • I really enjoy listening to podcasts as the radio can be so repetitive with all the sports programs being on at the same time and the same music played till you want to weep with boredom.

I moved to the google podcast player and it is so much better platform, with no adverts that delay playing and a better layout than any one i have used.

I listen to positive podcasts too like Alan Alda clear and vivid, Oprah super soul and desert island discs. I really enjoy listening to freakenomics and stay tuned with Preet ( the former DA in the southern district of New York). I listen to amazing people speaking as I commute while driving and cooking. I enjoy feeding my curiosity and getting insight from people who are engaging.

I have found the clothes are fitting better, I have lost a little weight and trying to eat better. Better choices every day,

maman good to see you home , sounds like youve seen some amazing places and made life memories x
  • Hi all
I have put on 4lbs this week I hope that is a temporary blip. As this week I have walked miles most days oh well start again. I've managed to get a hair cut and book an appointment for the hygienist. I've also brought a new pair of trainers at TKMax and a new holdall (in a CS) for our hol at Easter .

Moll - I watched Dr Rangan Chatterjee's 5 minute kitchen workout and just make sure I do them at least once a day. I've been focusing on the press ups ( now do them on the worktop instead of the wall) and squats and lunges. At first I could only do 5-10 at a time but now I manage at least 3 reps of 8 like I used to do in the gym.
TBH just do what you can manage and build from there. There's no competition you are just trying to improve yourself. I've found it hugely beneficial as I don't have a local gym and 5 minutes here and there are easy to manage. I'm sure it was someone on this thread a while back who mentioned him - so a big thank you to them!

  • Good morning lovely ladies. Good to see you back Maman, look forward to hearing your adventures.

Moll. Was gong to recommend Dr Chattergee too. I have his book, lots of tips in there. And I agree just start slow and build up graduAlly.

The weather has been so,lovely I managed to summon up some enthusiasm and have started walking. I can't do long distances yet so I have been doing two or 3 shorter walks each day. Even a short walk is better than no walk, I am gradually building up the distance and even increasing my speed too.

Same with my yoga and stretches, and my exercise bike. Little and often and gradually increasing. Weight stayed the same this week.

I've been listening to some Ted talks. Very interesting and motivational.

    Off for afternoon tea today.

    Have a great weekend.

That's absolutely right. It's the memories that I enjoy most about travelling. It's not always the iconic places either. Yes, we visited some amazing sights like the Taj Mahal and the Golden Temple in Amritsar but other things have left their mark. I found this place amazing:

It's not just the architecture but the cool, smooth patina of all the marble was so soothing.

I could go on and on but probably best that I just mention bits and pieces in passing.

Thanks for the heads up on the kitchen exercises. I've done a few bits but need to develop a habit rather than an occasional try out.:o

We're out at a party tonight although I still have jet lag so hope to stay awake! I'm planning to wear my black, tailored jumpsuit which will look so much better with my tanned arms.:D

Impressed with your wardrobe clear out sft. I could do with taking a leaf from your book.:)

SDW - sad to say my beloved little sports car got Tboned a couple of weeks ago. I was driving with DH and was hit on the passenger side. DH & me and the other driver all ok but the insurance company wrote my car off. I was gutted as it's the first car I've really loved! However, with a bit of diligent googling I am now the proud owner of another one - updated & newer model of the same with lots of extras! I can get that top down again ;)
DH went for a run on the trikes with his friend so I had the house to myself. Cue a leisurely bath, massive defuzz, moisturising and hair wash & blow-dry. DH bought me some face cream at Christmas - it's OK but I shan't bother with buying any more. I still prefer my retinol cream as it's got SPF which the other one hasn't. That surprised me as it's supposed to be for mature skin.
I went out to the club quiz night and put some make up on ;) I found a bottle of gel oil that I bought ages ago and rather than waste it I use it to clean off my make up. It seems to suit my dry skin but wouldn't you know they no longer make it.
    Keep fabbing ladies
PS. 5 minute workout done while waiting for the kettle to boil for our morning cuppa ;)

Glad you've sorted out a new car silva. You'll soon be able to get the top down with the lovely weather we're having.:)

You've got a good plan there SSDD23. Your DH was good to get involved in choosing some styles with you.:) I've always shopped on my own although I do take advice both on here and from fashion pages. What do others do?

I'm still keeping up with the changes I made since the new year. I'm pleased with increasing my reading (5 books since January). I drank loads of water while on holiday but have lapsed a bit since so need to get back to that. Exercise was fine while we were away (walking every day) but I'm lazy at home unless I have something organised like a dance class or a walk with friends. I'm definitely going to look at exercising at home. It's the days that I don't go out that are the problem.

We had a good time at the party last night. It was good to catch up with family. I had many compliments on my jump suit so it was the right choice. I felt good and I know I looked better than many of the other women. It really is so worth making an effort to make the best of ourselves:D. It's a shame to see how many younger women are overweight and, as many live in a small town, the clothes can be rather cheap or naff looking. Older women looked frumpy and the younger ones a bit tarty or too dressed down for a party IMO. I can honestly say that there were only two others that I'd have swapped outfits with: a gorgeous navy ballerina length dress with a lace panel at the back and an Urban Outfitters jumpsuit that I'd fancied in store myself but decided that I really didn't need another. ;)

It's glorious again here. I've no plans for today except to make us a delicious roast dinner as I've missed that while we've been away. I might also spend an hour or so tackling the ironing mountain!:(
