Not feeling the least bit fabulous - stinking cold that's really hit me. I know it will only last a week or so but I'm feeling pretty lousy. I'm slathering on the moisturiser though cos it really makes my skin dehydrate.
I follow the 5/2 at various times as it's easy to do especially when cooking for other family members.
I did nip out yesterday to stock up on cold & flu capsules & my favourite CS is in the same block.......one pair of brand new boots. Dark grey with a sensible heel and they are either over the knee or turn down tops. I'm tall with long legs so they're a great find.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Good morning lovely ladies
Hello Jules. Welcome to the thread.
I agree with Candy, one step at a time.
I know it sounds easier said than done but please try not to obsess about your weight. Try and look at the whole picture. Try not to put your life on hold till you have lost the excess weight. Instead, focus on you, just as you are and try to make the best of yourself by taking pride in your appearance and lots of TLC. And don't forget to have some fun.......
I know it's hard and that you are likely pushed for time looking after your son and that you probably struggle with tiredness caused by your ME/CFS but try and set a little bit of time aside for yourself for a bit of "fabbing".
A few of us on here have issues with tiredness, a few have problems like fibromyalgia, CFS or arthritis so you will find us sympathetic.
You have done extremely well to lose 5 stones, so you know you can do it. Just keep your eye on the prize, you will get there.0 -
Ok - one final push today to finish the emulsion on the walls.
.
I so don't want to do this, I'm exhausted, fed up and a mass of aches and pains.....my tummy hates the paint and I'm fed up with looking a mess.
Me and my bright ideas.....:rotfl:
Next time I won't be as stubborn, I shall buy in help. I might have to sacrifice my holiday next year to pay for it but hey, when you are retired every day is a holiday..
I did manage a mini facial yesterday but I am looking forward to some proper intensive fabbing.
Currently reading "How I Lived A Year on Just A Pound a Day" by Kath Kelly. I read it a few years ago but am rereading it for inspiration and fresh ideas.
Some of the ideas aren't for me.....I am definitely not a camping kind of girl and I wouldn't attempt hitch hiking (although I did it when I was young). However, there are some good ideas and I like her writing style. She makes some interesting observations about consumerism and our throw away society.
I have also been reading a blog called "the Escape Artist". It's about the concept of FIRE .....Financial Independence Retire Early but it is actually still worth reading and adopting some of the principles even if like me you are already retired.
What a shame the internet wasn't around when I was young .....all this knowledge and information just a few clicks away.
Grey and miserable - again. And the forecast is horrible. More rain, my garden is absolutely sodden. I need to plant the bulbs I bought. They can't go in the back garden, it is so wet they will just rot. Some will have to go in the front garden and some in pots.
Right time to get cracking. Have a great day y'all.0 -

:grouphug: Hello and welcome.xxxTake it a step at a time hun.I've lost nearly 4st on weight watchers since April.
Wow, since April! Well done.:T:T:T0 -
Candygirl-4 stone is amazing since April. Do you know my friend and I used to do ww, she is talking about going back-but has a job full time and on the eve its held. So at the mo just going to cal count. But will keep it in mind.
All I NEED to not obsess. I dont want to trigger anyone so I wont put numbers but been eating xxx cal and end up binging on xxxxx cal then purging. It's got to stop. I am going to order a book called overcome binge eating what the therapist reccomend-actual you know I might go in the city with mum mum. Something I haven't done for ages-I get v panicky and get it from waterstones ( was a £4 cheaper than Amazon with delivery) mum would like a coffee too. Plus would be a few steps.
I am sorry a few of you guys have health issues toosending hugs.
I am under the crisis team right now for my ( so not allowed to drive) hoping to be discharged as I do feel more positive and just use them for phone support ( although I suffer with phone anxiety. I NEED to push myself. To ask for help..
All hope you get on ok with the painting. My house smells of paint just had the lounge, stairs and hallway done ( my dad paid for the work-I bought the paint ) I am mewley divorced so it nice to have my own touch on my home.
How I lived a year on a £1 a day I would find intersting-might look in library tomorrow.
I dont know what I did the internet was around when I was at college. If I dont know something my 7 year old says 'Google it mummy" .
I am going to look on the boards for ways to help me cut Bill's. Must admit ex did 90%of it so THIS is all new to me.
Got to find my letter and take to Drs tomorrow about council tax exemption because of my MH. Small steps. I pick my meds packet every fri so this can be done at same time I am thinking. To save energy more than anything.
Its soggy her which is such a shame as my sons on a school trip today. 4pm pick up. My personal assistant drives me today.
Wed2000 thank you.
Thank you all for the warm welcome-I look forward to following you all in this journey xxxx0 -
I'm really interested in the £1 a day/FIRE type principles. Not sure its for me, but I think I could certainly learn a few tips to manage our finances better.
I followed Sugars idea of recording the savings that I have made over the year on purchases. It goes to show that significant savings can be made over the course of a year if you put your mind to it.
When money is tight, fabbing is often the thing that gets pushed aside, but this thread has shown that it is possible to be fab on a budget.
Whilst we are on the subject of bargains, according to the MSE email, the Metro newspaper is doing a £10 off a £40 spend voucher tomorrow I plan on grabbing a couple and splitting our food shop.0 -
Hello Jules.....
That's a nice positive post....atta girl. :rotfl:
I have a personal mantra......well I have several but the one that serves me best was one I was taught on one of my training courses. It's this....
"Persistence Pays Off".
In the end it's about stamina, staying power, sheer bloody mindedness - call it what you will but just basically sticking to the task in hand until you reach your goal.
I began this thread 9 years ago. It has taken me that long to get to a point where I am now happy with my life. I am now happily in a place where I want to be, financially, physically, emotionally.
There's still more to come of course, still more to achieve. I constantly move the goalposts to challenge myself and keep developing, always stretching my capabilities and constantly evolving and growing.
Oh dear that does sound rather like a load of old hippy psychobabble doesn't it. But I do firmly believe that we need to stretch ourselves, to learn new stuff, to feed our brains as well as nurturing our bodies, to exploit and develop our own unique talents.
Sometimes that means pushing ourselves, stepping out of our comfort zones and overcoming obstacles.
Athletes need to train and we need to work on our "Fab Muscles". :rotfl:
Well dining room walls and ceilings now all finished. Wahoo. It's been a horrible job but it looks great, even if I do so myself. A couple of days rest and then the woodwork....that will be easy.
I've pushed my poor body to almost breaking point at times but it's done and I have saved myself shedloads of money so worth it in the end.
Alls well that ends well.
And, yes I kept at even though there were times when I was cursing through the pain and Loathing every minute of it. I can now finally step back and say. "I did that and it looks fab".
Once again.......Persistence has definitely paid off.
Would I do it again.......ask me in six months. :rotfl:0 -
The thing about FIRE.....is you don't HaVE to retire early, you can just aim for FI. I think that is a goal well worth working towards.
If you are financially independent, or even just not in debt and with a a financial cushion then you have more choice. You can switch jobs, change careers, reduce your hours, start your Own business.
And you're right....it all starts with managing our finances well, just being a bit more savvy. I often read yours and SUgarbabys spending diaries. Absolutely fascinating and both of you have amazing bargain hunting skills.
Life can still throw curved balls of course, none of us know what lies round the corner. My husband and I had reached a point of comfortable affluence, and were well on track to early retirement but fate had other ideas. Hey ho. That's all in the past.
I have learned a lot about money management since then, as have my boys.
I think there's a lot more information now, hopefully the younger generations will access this knowledge and run with it.0
