I'm having my hair done later this week, I've got very long hair and thinking of having it chopped off! Any ideas?
I wouldn't chop it off all in one go. I'd keep it long enough to tie it up /back. What about a long bob?You can always go shorter later if it's not enough of a change for you.
Thanks for the link sashy. I'll look it up.0 -
Morning All
I spent Christmas in Australia with my mum and Dad and I'm struggling to get back to a normal waking up time. It seems whatever time I go to bed, I'm awake for just after 3am.
It's a shame it's not lighter in the morning or I could go out for a walk, so I'm taking the opportunity to sort items in my bedroom instead. It seems that there are a few places that I 'store' things where no one can see and my bedroom is one of them.
After watching Marie Kondo on Netflix, I've decided that I need to stop doing that, and in the other places but I'm going to start with my bedroom.
Also after watching I've realised that I don't have enough clothes. lol...so once my debt is paid off, then building my wardrobe will be a priority.0 -

I've not watched MK on Netflix but I have read her book and her 100% approach was too drastic for me. I wouldn't have the time to pull everything out and sort it all in one go. What I did was start in my bedroom with one drawer, sort that and work from there. As I went along I discarded (bin/CS) anything unwanted and moved anything that didn't belong to that 'category' to another place to join similar items. I've done almost everything except photos but even those are now all in the same cupboard with duplicates/rejects culled. I found that a much more manageable way of doing it. Her method might work for someone who buys her services in and takes advantage while she's with them but I think most of us have to keep it manageable. Piling everything on my bed would mean I'd have to sleep elsewhere for weeks!:rotfl:Also after watching I've realised that I don't have enough clothes. lol...so once my debt is paid off, then building my wardrobe will be a priority.
Wow! I think that must be first! You must have been very frugal while paying off debt. Most of us have far too much and I know I'm one of them.:o
I am going to have another sort out but I realise that some of the reason is because of our climate. So far this winter I've barely worn some of the thick jumpers or coats I have because it's been far too mild. I'm not complaining but we do need to keep clothes for all occasions which adds to the quantity. It also makes me think whether I need more of the 'mild winter' clothes. I've worn my short, quilted jacket to death in recent months and find myself looking at possible replacements.:o
I've no real need to go out today but I'm going to make myself have some daylight/fresh air even if it's just a walk around the block. It's good to have a purpose for going out but it mustn't be to visit shops!;)
I'll read some more of my book (Eleanor Oliphant is absolutely fine) and keep drinking the water.:)
I put some Sally Hansen nail treatment on last night. It's a sort of semi matt clear varnish effect, not sure if it'll help but makes nails look groomed.
Dull but mild here. No excuses not to go out.;)0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
I didn't do my first declutter quite the Marie Kondo way either. I adopted Mamans approach so that I didn't completely disrupt my home. Same this time. Altough I have a lot of stuff to sort out, I have manage to confine it to the two spare bedrooms (and shed) so luckily it doesn't impinge on the rest of the house. That doesn't look too bad, although I do have my share of bulging disorganised cupboards.
My lounge has rather too much furniture for my liking, and most of it is out of scale for the room because it was designed to fit a much larger room. It was my sons furniture and I also feel it's a bit "masculine". My intention is to go for a lighter more feminine look.
Today I popped into the YMCA and they are coming to remove several pieces of furniture on Wednesday, two items from the lounge. That should make a big difference.
When they have gone I am going to lift the "busy" dark Turkish rug (beautiful but not right for the room) and put a plain grey one in its place. That alone should make quite a difference. Then, later this year, when I've replaced the ancient gas fire and huge fireplace I will redecorate in a pale neutral colour and replace the sofas with something a little less cumbersome.
It all takes time but as it's perfectly liveable there's no real hurry. I'll get there. I'll just pop a couple of paintings up and get some nice plants to give the room a bit of a lift for now.
I nipped into Sainsbury's.....had quite a lot of nectar points so spent them on a bit of a "Brexit" food stock up. Nothing drastic, I'm not compiling an Armageddon cupboard as such:rotfl: I am just buying a few extra bits and pieces of items that I would use anyway, taking advantage of current offers. I certainly won't be buying hundreds of tins of stuff I wouldnt normally eat.
I agree with Mamans comments about clothes and our climate. It's difficult to gauge how much clothing we might need, so I'm quite loathe to go too minimalist with my wardrobe, plus I do like variety.
The 33 project is a bit too Spartan for my tastes. :rotfl:
Like Maman I haven't really worn my really cold weather gear yet this winter. So far.:rotfl: but who knows it's early days yet and the Met Office has threatened us with another Beast from the East. in our variable climate it's the same with summer clothes. Some years you hardly get chance to wear really light summer clothing unless you go abroad but last year we wore summer clothing for what seemed like months.
We do seem to need a lot of clothes in the U.K. so we can be prepared for all weathers.
Hey ho, better get cracking. Seeing as the YMCA guys are coming I think I'll sort out some books for them to take whilst they are at it. It will Save me lugging them into the shop.0 -
Hi Girlies :j
I spent quite a while yesterday sorting my 4 wardrobes:eek: There was stuff in there that I'd forgotten I had, some nice surprises really.I've filled two huge black bags with stuff for the chazzers.:D
I tend to wear black trousers a lot with bright coloured tops .Am loving long tunics at the mo , n have a few quirky Joe Brown ones
'LL it sounds like you have a good sense of style, n you're right about too much furniture.I'm guilty of this"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hello Ladies,
I went to Karaoke last night and had a really good evening. I sang 3 songs. Hurt So Good got me really loud applause and cheers and a demand for the DJ to rewind the track which he promptly did and I had to sing it again. This was a lovely surprise for me as it a regular song in my list of songs I usually sing.
I got 2 small bottles of Prosecco bought for me as well. I drank one bottle at the pub and brought the other one home with me.0 -

Well, I have got back to my exercise routine - went out for a run with my friend yesterday (although we probably undid any benefits by promptly going out to lunch afterwards
) and this morning I have been to the gym.
I have read the Marie Kondo book but found the idea of it a bit too overwhelming as I do have a lot of clothes and shoes. I am going to watch it on Netflix and set myself some de-cluttering targets.
One of my resolutions for this year is that I am not going to wear uncomfortable clothes any more! I have decided I can no longer be bothered to pour myself into clothes I feel self-conscious in so this year I am going to seek out some glamorous, elegant but comfortable clothes. I have already made a start as I spent Saturday in Chichester with my youngest daughter and we 'did' the charity shops and I picked up some great buys including two lovely cocktail dresses - one is designer and the other is an M&S - it was £25 for the 2 which I know isn't really cheap but they will last me for years and I will get a lot of (comfortable) wear out of them.
Today I am going to sort out my Christmas presents and put everything away - I got some lovely smellies from my family. My OH bought me some DKNY perfume which I asked for and my daughter got me a selection of lovely Body shop handcreams. My best friend (the one I run with) gave me some lovely Ted Baker toiletries so I am set for fabbing for a little while.
It's just come over very grey and drizzly here so I think maybe a nice chilli for dinner tonight0 -

I'm currently reading that book too - it came highly recommended.
Back to work today and with all the MK tidying over the hols, I couldn't find anything! not helped by lack of caffiene (tried to eliminate pre-work coffee). Hopefully day 2 will go better.
Wore perfume, drank water, put on makeup, still got toes painted BUT tomorrow may be a different case altogether.
Hope everyone's day was positive.:rotfl:0 -
Feeling much better today. Makeup on this morning for work. I even put on some highlighter which I don’t usually bother with. Early night last was great. Going to try to get to bed early on Sunday nights, think it makes the difference on a Monday in work.0
