I've read about the benefits of silk pillowcases LL . Strangely enough I woke up today with my hair all full of knots and it's supposed to help that. Keep me posted about any progress. Whatever happens it should feel luxurious.
Pleased to say I lost another 1.5lbs of my holiday gain this week. It's a struggle as we eat out a lot and often there isn't a particularly healthy food choice.
DH has been sorting out some of his stuff for the CS today. He says that having the bathroom revamped is enthusing him to do more.I saw 2 nice shirts shirts in the CS when I dropped the bags off. Fortunately the sleeves weren't long enough or my arms are too long! :rotfl:

Hi ladies, just a quick post tonight, with regard to the silk pillow cases, when I last looked the good quality ones were very expensive, about £40 each and reports said that the cheap ones were not good enough. Some people made their own from CS silk shirts etc, but as a non sewer and no longer having a machine, I dug out from my stash, or bought several large pure silk head squares and just tuck them in over and around my pillow.
I sleep with my face pushed down into the pillow, now the creases are not so deep and smooth out quicker after my morning skin care routine. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
That's a brilliant idea maddie . I'm sure I have a silk nightie somewhere that I could adapt but I will look in the CS.:)0

Good morning lovely ladies
Maddie. What a great idea of adapting charity shop silk purchases. Very MSE.. I will definitely have a scout round.
Had a nice evening at the jazz night. Tonight it's the casino, featuring a Cher tribute act. Should be fun. Think I'll wear my jump suit for that.
Yesterday picked 1kg of blackberries. The bushes are loaded so I'll probably go back tomorrow and pick another load. I'm popping them in the freezer. Lots of extra lovely vitamin C for the winter.
Maman. Well done on the weight loss. It's hard when you are eating out regularly. I have stayed the same because like you I've been eating out quite a bit recently. Need to get a grip and shift that final half stone.
Met a nice man last night.....(no not a prospect for romance, not quite my type :rotfl:just a nice man to chat to). He was well turned out and looked attractive, great body, obviously quite athletic and sporty. I noticed he was drinking sparkling mineral water. He said it was because he was driving but then he joked "and anyway it's good for the skin" :rotfl:
Had to laugh but he was right. He did have really good skin.
Reminded me I need to up my water intake.0 -
The deep purple dye arrived yesterday.
I looked around my wardrobe to see if I had enough clothes here already to dye.
I dyed two white nighties, two lacy vest tops, three normal vest tops, my red dress and a grey wrap dress.
I really like the way the wrap dress turned out as it looks much better purple. That will be nice for Autumn.:)

:T Do you think you gained weight as you weren't doing your usual dancing on holiday?I sleep with my face pushed down into the pillow
For some reason that made me laugh, doesn't sound very comfortable!:rotfl:lessonlearned wrote: »

Ooh.:)
You are right about water and the skin. It does plump up the skin when you hydrated. I drink tons of water. I've never had a UTI either!:D0 -
Wednesday that sounds great. I love purple.
I popped into a chazzer today, bought a fabulous purple brocade evening jacket for £4. Dead chuffed. Also velvet with red flowered embroidery evening bag 99p and a teal pashmina £1.50. A nice little haul.
Then in Asda, some yellow stickered Veg and some L'0real half priced skin care.
Also....it felt like Christmas morning this morning......a parcel from Amazon. Two books and a really pretty embroidered fan I ordered when I was looking for parasols a while ago. I had forgotten all about it. It was only 75p so I couldn't resist it.
Going to put my feet up now. Then later I'll get dolled up for the casino. Might even have a little flutter.0 -
I'm another one that likes purple. So pleased the dyeing worked well Wednesday. You get some really good stuff at the CS LL. Do you browse several of them or are there favourites?
We're starting to think how we plan to use the bathroom now that it's almost finished. I know we need to buy a few bits and pieces such as a soap dish (DH prefers this to shower gel) for the shower etc. but we've decided to use it for a while before deciding what to put where. We've had one of those little alcove shelves put into the shower, a tall narrow cupboard and a unit under the basin so there is some storage.
DH commented that when we stay with one of our friends their bathroom has hardly anything 'on show' other than some soap and some shower gel. That got me thinking. Do you have a super pristine bathroom or do you have things out on the side easy to hand? If you have things out how do you store them?
It's been a bit of a topsy turvy day. Football was early because of Sky, then we had a light lunch in the city and it's still not yet 6 p.m. It's almost wine o'clock and then I'll go and prep the dinner.
Have a lovely time at the casino LL. I've never been to a proper one just the odd casino event or one on board ship. Don't get carried away.:D0 -

I would love to say I’m the former, but in reality, I’m the latter of the two. The stuff we use frequently, toothbrushes and paste, soap and body wash and hair products are kept out. We have a tiny bathroom, so medicines, make up and anything else is kept elsewhere.
Wednesday purple was the colour of imperial Rome, so wear it with pride!
Lessons I have been picking blackberries too. Me and DD are going back tomorrow and will pick some more to freeze.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Thank you for the compliment Maman about how I manage my money.
I have been debt free for many years now which makes daily living so less stressful for me and I never want to return to a time when I owe anyone a single penny.
With the fall of the pound now a pound is worth less than a dollar. I find this turn of events on the World's financial stage really alarming.
I will continue to give myself small treats even while I diligently save money and I will wait until May 2020 to decide whether I want to have a holiday if I can get one for around £1,000. I will never forget my lovely holiday to Jamaica but I do not have the income to repeat that type of all inclusive luxury holiday but will not feel deprived.
My priority is to be a good provider and to ensure that my daughter and I can live a comfortable life within our budget. I also insist on my younger adult daughter and son following my example and always save some of their income.
LL it will always be a balance with Arthritis. I find that my joints will seize up if I am not being active enough, but there are times when my body hurts too much for me to enjoy my normal social life. I am determined not to let my 3 types of Arthritis have the upper hand.0 -
I was looking on Pinterest today and I saw an article about a woman on a plane who said she carries her silk pillowcase with her as it prevents creases on her face if she takes a nap. Seems a coincidence as we were just talking about it on here!
I looked to see if there were any vegan silk pillowcases and saw that people rave about ones made from bamboo. I saw some on Amazon so I bought 4 white ones, they are supposed to feel like silk and are hypoallergenic. Same day delivery too.
I can't remember if I said about the red trench coat I ordered that seemed like such a bargain as it was about £13. There is a reason it was so cheap as it looks awful! That will be donated.
I saw a really nice black trench coat from Mango for £90. I will have to wait until I'm sure I have lost enough weight before I invest in one.lessonlearned wrote: »Two books and a really pretty embroidered fan I ordered when I was looking for parasols a while ago. OMG, I could have done with a fan when I was at that concert in Islington and it was so sweltering hot. A couple of women had fans and I was really jealous.
I will have to buy one for next summer.
