So it is basically what I do already!
Like you I didn't realise it was a 'thing'. I do it too when I need to get make up off, particularly mascara. When I just want to freshen up in the morning then I just use one product. At the moment I've got Clarins cleansing milk for a quick refresh and Clinique foaming stuff for a deeper clean. That's the one I use with my complexion brush too. Sometimes I use a wipe to get most of it off before using the cleanser. That's probably the wrong way round for the official way but I'm trying to use up the Clarins and then I'll think about an oil based something.
The CS can always be a bit hit and miss sft. I had a spare half an hour before my hair appointment this week so browsed a couple in Winchester. They definitely had some really good brands. They weren't cheap but they were good value IYSWIM. I didn't buy anything though because they seemed to be shifting summer stock and I really don't need anything. I think the answer is to just take a look when you have the time and if you find anything it's a bonus.
I always try to do my meal planning and food shop on a Friday then I don't need to think about it for the rest of the week. I could shop any day now but it's a habit that's stuck from when I was working full time. I think it's very mse too :money: as popping in to random shops for a few bits can prove expensive.
It's glorious here too LL. DGD2 is going to the Reading festival tomorrow as a day visitor. She'll definitely need plenty of water and sun cream.0 -
Managed to finally get my hair trimmed today, he got off as much off the dry hair as he could without making things uneven, so looks much better.
I will be heading to the hair salon tomorrow morning to hopefully be able to discuss prices and options, with the view to booking an appointment mid-september. This hopefully means I have done DIY colour for the final time!
Some treats booked in at home this evening... hair mask, face mask, DIY pedicure and possibly top up my eyebrow tint0 -
Just popping on to say I got my hair booked in to be coloured/highlighted in a little over 3 weeks when I have a week off of work, she seemed quite comfortable with being able to achieve the colour I want from the photo I took in
Beautiful morning here this morning, was really pleasant to take a stroll down (10-15 minute walk) and book the appointment, my appointment card also has a 10% offer for your return visit after your first appointment with the salon, so that'll be good for the next appointment
Excited now to get it done, haven't had professionally done hair for quite a while, it will be a nice & welcome change!0 -

That's great. I'd say that after my moisturiser and mascara my next priority is having my hair done professionally. I'm really pleased with the cut this time. I can always tell when it's easy for me to blow dry myself.
What sort of highlights are you planning SSDD23? I have a mixture of golden and caramel colours although it's lighter at the moment where it's sun bleached.
It's glorious here today too and promises to be for a few days to come.:D
We've been invited to an impromptu lunch party on Monday (where everyone takes a dish along). It'll be lovely to know that we can spend time in the garden.
Yesterday didn't work out has planned. DH had a bump in my car. He's fine but the car's not. :(If it was possible to arrange an accident though it worked out really well. DH stopped as he was going through green traffic lights to let a police car on blues and twos through from his left. The car coming up behind was obviously oblivious and drove into the back of him. So the accident was witnessed by the police who stopped and checked the woman's insurance on the spot. A courtesy car is coming this afternoon and the car goes in to be repaired on Tuesday.:(
So today I'll have to do my food shopping but hopefully everyone else will be out sunning themselves so the shops will be quiet!:D0 -
Good morning Lovely People,
Maman Poor car! Poor DH! Hope everything gets sorted quickly.
We are home from our India adventures.......sigh. In the movies, someone would have chatted to us in a bar, and offered us the opportunity to run a small boutique hotel in Mumbai, or become buyers for their interior design store, and we could stay forever......
Anyway, we are not brave enough to take risks, so it's back to normality.
Lots of fabbing on holiday. I used up all the hotel mini moisturisers. My nails have grown, but still not in very good condition. We have both lost a bit of weight, and have a bit of a tan, but that was all the walking and no snacks!
The best medicine, has been getting away from it all. The locals were amazed that people of our age were still 'travelling' :rotfl:
Our friends are off on an Italian adventure next month......I am soooo envious.
SSDD23 You have reminded me about booking a hair appointment before the dreaded return to work.
Enjoy the sunshine0 -
Pleased that your dh is ok maman, and good news that there will be little fuss getting the car sorted. Not giving up

I need to start my teeth whitening next week. I haven't even bothered to do it yet! Keep forgetting to do it.
I wanted to get my hair cut and blow dried before I meet my friend but my mobile hairdresser can't make it. I could just go to a place around here instead I suppose.
I'm about to go for a short walk as it is so hot today. Just around the block. I might put my hair in a pony tail as well. I always wear it down but I can't stand the feel of it on the back of my neck.

Scary. Glad he is okay.0 -

Thanks all for your good wishes:). Fingers crossed, everything is working out smoothly so far. I picked up the courtesy car yesterday and am pleased to say that it's very similar to my own as they advertise 'like for like'. The main difference is that its a keyless car. I've never driven one of those before so I had to ask how to start it:o Maybe I shouldn't have blonde highlights!:D
So glad you enjoyed India elf. We loved out trip too. Interestingly we went to the 'original' Marigold Hotel in Jaipur from the first TV series and had G&Ts on the roof with the owner. He was a fascinating man and explained that the tv company had approached him because of reviews on Trip Advisor.
Another glorious day here. Not planning to do much but just seeing the sunshine cheers me up. This must be the best Bank Holiday weather we've had in years.0 -
Maman. Glad your DH is ok. That's the main thing. Hopefully the car will be sorted soon.
House Elf...had to smile about your "if it was in the movies comment".
Well......if it really is your dream.......;). Who knows. Maybe you will find the right business opportunity one day. Someone has to import goods and resell them.......it would entail a few research and shopping trips. Lol. I have a friend who imports silks from China and Thailand.
Well good afternoon lovely ladies. It's an absolute scorcher so I'm doing nowt. And I don't feel remotely guilty. :rotfl:
Dolce fa Niente (speaking of Italy). The sweetness of doing nothing,
Yesterday I was chauffeur and tour guide for the Venezuelans. We went to Carsington Water. Thank goodness it wasn't today. It will be like Dante's Inferno up there today. Not to mention the journey on busy roads. No thanks.
A shady nook in my garden is more my idea of fun today.
Just need to make sure I don't get bitten again by Mozzies. Ill put my citronella bands on. Wonder if it's the extra warm weather but they do seem quite aggressive this year. Either that or I'm extra tasty........0 -
Lovely and sunny here again today, having a lazy day, no get up and go, found out my iron is pretty low again, so started to remedy that.
Have been doing gentle gardening in short bursts, need to keep at it as we are off to Wales in the caravan for 10 days in two weeks time. Intended visiting Ma today, but really don't feel like driving today, must go tomorrow tho'.
Had a lovely visit to nearby village to buy plants yesterday and have a coffee (English Heritage are selling lovely plants for £3.50 (herbaceous) not shrubs, smaller than the £8 ones from all the garden centres around here, but suit me better). The church next door was having it's yearly flower festival, the theme was books, so many talented arrangers and the church was lovely, it had a gallery and still had oak stalls, so unusual these days.
LL - great news about your DS's job, justifiably a proud Mother moment.
Maman - pleased that your OH was not harmed. Our current car is keyless and also switches itself off when stopped in traffic in neutral and handbrake on, most perplexing at first:eek:
House Elf your holiday sounds great.
Wednesday and SSDD23 your are doing great on the fabbing front, well done. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
