You could be right silva. My DH had a fasting blood test last week and practice nurse said blood pressure was sky high. Cue for worrying.... ☹️ He had it done again yesterday, late afternoon and results were excellent. All because early morning he hadn't had his medication. Smiles all round.:D

My DD always has terrible blood pressure readings, think they call it white coat syndrome. In the end they put a monitor on her for 24 hrs to get an accurate reading. She is a stressy person, a perfectionist so everything is a big deal.

    Morning all :)

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis humpty. I understand a lot of weight bearing exercises can be done with just your body weight though so maybe a quick google will give you some items you can do at home.

I'm feeling a bit run down at the moment. I've been really busy and a bit stressed at work which has impacted on excercise (I.e. doing none) and also stress eating junk. It's left me feeling blurgh and I e had a horrible cold for two weeks and came down with thrush on Tuesday. Firsts time I've ever had it. I just got the tablet from pharmacy but with hindsight should have picked up some yoghurt drink things. I'll get some today as whilst it has improved it's not gone yet.

So I'm having a quiet weekend and not going out drinking. I'm just going to do house stuff and batch cook. I will go round to my friends to watch a series we have started and will try and convince him to go for a roast dinner first but I won't drink. Think I just need to relax and recharge.

I had a massage last night which was lovely :) was meant to have my bikini line waxed but obviously didn't get that done. I go round to her house so hopefully can pop over during the week.

I did well loosing weight before my holiday at Xmas (around 20lbs) but I've put around 7 back on so need to get back on that. I don't need to go on a diet as such, just stop binging on junk food and continue with my healthy meals. I'm happy to loose 1lb a week as it's slow and steady. Want to loose around 2.5 stone in total.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

  • Sounds like you're going through the mill clipp-girl. Stress does seem to make us vulnerable to these things, hope the massage helped.

Have a hug clippy. That sounds like a very bad week (and then some). Hope your day works out as you want it. :)

I know you've but some of the pounds back on but at least you're calling a halt now before it gets any worse. Batch cooking is a brilliant idea, means we've always got something healthy to hand for busy or CBA days. :)

Searching for some paperwork yesterday, I did a bit of shredding/recycling. I might go back to that this afternoon. I'm trying to work my way around the house.:)

I'm out dancing tonight. It's good fun but also good exercise. I've had my shower and gone through all my fabbing routines. I started this morning adding some fake tan to my body lotion. It's still 3 weeks or so to my holiday but as the weather improves here I might want to start showing my arms and legs!

Have a good weekend all, whatever you're up to. Remember it's OK to do nothing at all if that's what you want. ;)

I've decided I've got to try and save some money if I am buying a new house next year. One of my big expenses is birthdays/Christmas. Four kids, their partners and six grandchildren don't come cheap. So my plan is a cost neutral Christmas. The children all get £100 in savings accounts, that is taken care of as I get two payments of my state pension in December. For presents I so far have approx £30 in nectar points, hopefully with a double up that gives me £60 to spend. I normally get something for the 4 little ones with that, pyjamas or a little dress or something. Then I have £99 on my cash back credit card, I reckon I should have £120 by Christmas. I try to shop on TopCashBack and I have £40 in there I can take as amazon vouchers but with another £60 due. So that gives me roughly £280 to buy a gift for six children and eight adults, roughly £20 each. That will be fine for the littlies as they have cash and something to wear but I might need another £100 for the big ones and some more for the adults then I buy for one of my nieces, she is a single mum and doesn't have it easy I say I buy her something but actually I normally give her £100 to help with her Christmas. So I either need to spot some bargains between now and Christmas or raise £300 somehow. I'm going to have a sort out for ebay. It will be nice if I can do it. I've also started saving 50p pieces so I need to count them.

So I'm on the look out for toys sales for kids, smellies/skincare for DsIL, who knows what for sons. Actually I will look out for 25% off wine at Sainsburys as they all like a nice wine. Now I'm back into crochet I might do some clothes for dolls, little GD would like that.

How does everyone else do Christmas? Maybe we can share some tips.

Just realised I'm talking Christmas in May. I must have flipped or something.

Humpty, I’m also on the Santa’s challenge 2017 thread. It’s been a bit quiet in recent months, though.

I shop throughout the year for Christmas to keep myself organised and to grab a bargain. When I go to the supermarkets or the shops, I always keep my eye out for any potential gifts. The summer sales are a good time to find bargains.

I have a similar budget person and it’s easy to skim a couple of pounds off each person. For example, I found a nice Osprey bag in TK Maxx for £15.

eBay is great for bargains, particularly if you know what you are after. Sugar is the expert on eBay and I’m sure she can point you in the right direction once she is back from her holidays.

I'll have a look at the Santa's challenge. I feel quite positive about it. I checked my 50p jar and I've got £32 in there so that's useful. I got some vouchers from Sainsbury's this morning, six of them for £6 off a £40 shop so I will do the shops and pop the £6 in my new fund. I've also been cutting back on using the car and now I need to walk more for my bones then I will cut back more, I worked it out and for the last couple of months I've been using about £20 a month less fuel so my challenge is going to be to make that £30 a month and again pop that in my fund.

Of course Christmas present people are also birthday present people and I've got one coming up in a few weeks so I am going to try and cut back a bit on spends so the present comes out of my normal monthly spend. At this rate I'll be a millionaire next year, just like Delboy :rotfl:

I'm holding my breath on this one but my plans have inspired DH who is a hoarder and he has agreed to have a sort out and let me sell some stuff. Apart from the money it would be wonderful to get rid of some of his clutter.

So a positive day for me. Let's hope it all goes to plan.

    Humpty that’s the MSE spirit!

Here are a few more tips (could work for birthdays as well)

Sainsburys as you shop there, I thought I would start here. My local store has a permanent sale rack so I always have a quick look when I pop in. A couple of years ago, I found some slipper boots reduced to £6, plus got the additional 25% off.
The also do a toy sale event in the autumn which is popular. I haven’t attended myself, though.

Boots they have regular 3 for 2 offers, which is good for toiletries like The Sanctuary and Champneys an you can split the products up. If you sign up to the advantage card app, you can also get £3 worth of points if you spend £20 for example.

Tk Maxx is good for accessories like beauty products, pjs, water bottles, home wear, underwear, socks, candles and children’s clothes.

Sales most shops will either have a sale or offer at some point. If I’m after a specific item, I just wait until it’s discounted.

eBay it’s always worth having a check on eBay to see if you can get an item cheaper. You can filter the searches to be really specific eg Nightdress, M&S, size 12, brand new with tags. Today, I picked up some boots reduced from £195 to £40.

candygirl I haven't done much ebaying and I know nothing about shpock. I suppose I should have a look at it. Sounds good that you are selling loads of stuff, hoping I can do the same.
