Frump to Fab 2019 - Here We Go Again

Thanks for the tips, I'm willing to give anything a go. I'm definitely upping my walking and taking the vitamin d and calcium as a start.
I said no GC, well one turned up, in trouble at school and wanted a bit of space before facing mum. Glad mine are no longer teenagers although I have to say mine never got into much trouble he could argue for England and doesn't seem to realise that doesn't go down well with teachers. He is very bright and very good at sport so tends to get away with things but needs to learn where the boundaries are. I'm hoping all is going well at home, if not he is likely to turn up on my doorstep before bedtime, sometimes his idea and sometimes his mum's. Happy days.0 -
Not 'seen' you for a few days LL. Hope you're OK and the childcare isn't wearing you out.
Well done on sorting through the toiletries Wednesday. It's amazing what we accumulate. I've been gradually working through mine to try to get to the point where I only have/use things I really love. It's slow though because at the same time I'm using less product. Today I've nothing on the agenda to get fabbed up for in a hurry so I've used the flaxseed oil instead of serum. Then I find that using serum needs a lot less moisturiser. very mse but it doesn't reduce the stash!:D
I know they gave you the results of the test instantly humpty but will there be an automatic follow up appointment with the GP to discuss/prescribe?:)
Today I'm going to tackle the storecupboard as now I have more space in the kitchen some things can be moved. Does everyone keep a storecupboard? I use it for offers or things from shops I rarely get to.
Weather's a bit dull here today and the odd shower is promised.:( Meanwhile sugarbaby is having wall to wall sunshine.;)0 -

Hi Maman, I saw a specialist nurse, she did the scan and talked me through the results. Apparently they will send a letter to GP asking him to arrange a blood test to see if there is any particular cause they can treat and asking him to prescribe vitamin d and calcium. I will get a copy of that.
My GP does alot of telephone consultations now which is great, obviously not appropriate for everything but good where it is appropriate. I think he is likely to ring or get the practice nurse to ring me to arrange it all. I am due a full blood test in July so not sure if they will say wait for that or do an extra one.
I had to laugh this morning, I got the letter telling me GP had referred me and asking me to fill in some forms if I wanted the tests, obviously already in the pipeline when I got the cancellation. I was lucky but 80% of the nurses clinic cancelled their appointments that day which seems quite shocking. I suppose at least they cancelled so not all the appointments were wasted but obviously not everyone can attend at short notice.
Had a 1 mile walk this morning to the supermarket and bought some almonds. Trouble is I can't resist almonds so this might be an expensive, if healthy, habit.
Two of the grandchildren here for the day, both have a bug so I got an 8 am call to say could I pick them up. At least I feel wanted/needed!0 -
I've decided I've got to try and save some money if I am buying a new house next year. One of my big expenses is birthdays/Christmas. Four kids, their partners and six grandchildren don't come cheap. So my plan is a cost neutral Christmas. The children all get £100 in savings accounts, that is taken care of as I get two payments of my state pension in December. For presents I so far have approx £30 in nectar points, hopefully with a double up that gives me £60 to spend. I normally get something for the 4 little ones with that, pyjamas or a little dress or something. Then I have £99 on my cash back credit card, I reckon I should have £120 by Christmas. I try to shop on TopCashBack and I have £40 in there I can take as amazon vouchers but with another £60 due. So that gives me roughly £280 to buy a gift for six children and eight adults, roughly £20 each. That will be fine for the littlies as they have cash and something to wear but I might need another £100 for the big ones and some more for the adults then I buy for one of my nieces, she is a single mum and doesn't have it easy I say I buy her something but actually I normally give her £100 to help with her Christmas. So I either need to spot some bargains between now and Christmas or raise £300 somehow. I'm going to have a sort out for ebay. It will be nice if I can do it. I've also started saving 50p pieces so I need to count them.
So I'm on the look out for toys sales for kids, smellies/skincare for DsIL, who knows what for sons. Actually I will look out for 25% off wine at Sainsburys as they all like a nice wine. Now I'm back into crochet I might do some clothes for dolls, little GD would like that.
How does everyone else do Christmas? Maybe we can share some tips.
Just realised I'm talking Christmas in May. I must have flipped or something.0 -
Good Morning lovely ladies....
Maman.....I'm here. A bit tired but all is good. No granny duties now until Monday and then only 2/3 days next week. Then the week After DILs dad will be here so I won't be needed much after that. So hopefully I will be able to crack on with the house and garden.
Aiming to cut the grass and do some planting this afternoon. Gardens are starting to take shape nicely now.
Fabwise - WW - stayed the same this week, which given the erratic eating patterns of the last week or so is a minor miracle. So back to the plan now.
I did give eating more carbs a go but they really don't suit me, my digestive system just can't cope so I will stick with what I know works for me. I would rather be comfortable and pain free. And I think much of the tiredness is childcare related anyway rather than linked to food choices.
Interesting info about osteopenia - I really ought to get my bone density checked. It's on my to do list.
Since losing weight my knee is much better so I'm walking more and with less pain. All to the good.
Gosh.....Christmas planning already. Wow.
We discussed Christmas (and birthdays) last year and made a family pact. The consensus is "no more stuff". So gifts are now experiences or a nice family day out with just a small gift of something edible or beauty products or fragrances.0 -
Forgot to say......not much happening on the internet dating site. Most of the interest has come from guys who live rather too far away. I have decided I just can't be bothered with a long distance relationship. :rotfl:
Lazy of me I know but whilst it might be nice to enjoy a little Male company now and again I really can't be bothered with the hassle of trailing round the U.K. just to go on dates. I have decided it has to be a local hero.;).
(Unless of course he was very special).0 -
LL I generally do the experience things with the teenagers, last year they had driving lessons at 13 and 15 they went to a special off road track and had a fantastic time. They want to do it again so that is a possibility. Sometimes we do tickets for an event they would enjoy, not panto none of us are panto people so more likely to be sport than anything else.
I see what you mean about the travelling, you can't be very spontaneous can you. There must be eligible men in Derby. Would cities like Nottingham or Leicester still be doable, trying to picture a map of England in my head and they look close or is that me looking from a distance?0 -
Hi everyone.. De-lurking to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread..
I have not had the easiest 12 months, a large weight gain and various other body issues I had practically gone into hiding, self-care was non existent, really did not like myself much..
That said, a couple of months back I discovered this thread (& the Lemonade one too) & it’s made a huge impact..
I have had a huge sort out of my clothes, purchased a few new items (e-bay/charity shop bargains) renewed my minimal make up kit and purchased some perfume.. Changed my eating patterns, fasting for at least 16 hours, dropped most carbs and increased fibre.
Also stopped taking my pill, all vitamins etc..so that when I see the Drs, the bloods will be accurate and not full of false hormones.. (I do look a little like a spotty teen because of this )
Drs apt booked to discuss possible thyroid issue (I have pernicious anaemia.. they often go hand in had) in the mean time as I've had to wait 4 weeks I’ve upped my exercise again and make a real attempt to mind my appearance when I leave the house, not relying on leggings/baggy tops..
Self care has improved, especially skin care (even with the spots/blisters/boils) it’s not always easy, I often wish to hide away in my pjs under a blanket.. I have stopped myself, finding an activity or something to clean :rotfl:
SO.. Thank you all very much, I really appreciate all your posts and shall endeavour to keep posting on here, even if it’s just to say hi...;)"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇0 -
Hello Madam Min......lovely to her from you. A lovely positive post, full of hope. And giad that you are finding the optimism and energy to move forward towards your goal.
Sometimes we feel that we are in a long dark tunnel and that we can't see any daylight. But the daylight is always there, even if we can't see it yet. At such times you just have to keep going, with faith and hope in your heart.
Well I didn't cut the grass, instead I went to bed and slept like a baby for a couple of hours. Do I feel guilty......not a bit of it. I clearly needed the sleep otherwise I wouldn't have slept. And the grass will still be there tomorrow. :rotfl:
Humpty.....yes Nottingham and Leicester are fine. I am prepared to travel for an hour or so by car.. Maybe even London for someone special but that's about it.
It was bad enough commuting for work....:rotfl:0 -
I've been feeling like death today so not very fab at all. I've had vertigo which usually leads to a migraine.
I have just had a hot shower, washed my hair, put on fluffy socks and made myself a hot (non-caffeine) drink. I feel more in the land of the living now!:pWell done on sorting through the toiletries Wednesday. It's amazing what we accumulate. It's because I have been experimenting with different face creams I think. I've ended up with loads of them.:Dhumptydumptybits wrote: »Had a 1 mile walk this morning to the supermarket and bought some almonds. Trouble is I can't resist almonds so this might be an expensive, if healthy, habit.
Yes, nuts can be expensive, I think Asda are quite reasonable.MadamMim2013 wrote: »I have had a huge sort out of my clothes, purchased a few new items (e-bay/charity shop bargains) renewed my minimal make up kit and purchased some perfume..
