Just logged into bank to find half of ESA, like others it's never happened before doubt it's anything to worry about as I'm not due to be removed from ESA, got a feeling it's a computer glitch.

Edit to add, my full ESA was due on the 8th.
  • I'm my son's appointee and just saw half his normal amount gone in the bank today, not due till the 8th. I came on here to see if anyone else has had the same. I'm not worried now because it seems that a lot of people have had the same happen.
  • Hello all.
After being on hold to the ESA (1 hr 8 minutes) i finally spoke to a lady who confirmed to me, that those of us who had received half of our esa payments before our regular payment date, you will receive the other half on your normal pay day, then you go back to your normal payment dates.
The cause of this she said was a "computer glitch"

You will have just been paid earlier than normal and nothing at all to worry about. Next payment will be made 17th January, you just need to make this payment last longer than usual.

As previously mentioned in post #25 it's a computer glitch. Payments will return to normal after your next payment.
  • Hi I’ve not been paid my esa that’s sue on the 7th of jan and I could really do with it me and my son are starved and Christmas just cost too much. I don’t have any family to help me so I’m devastated I’m in this situation. I wonder why some people who are die to be paid a little later than myself have been paid esa.

Those that were due their ESA payment on or around the 7th January were paid 1 weeks money by mistake and it was a computer error. If you are due your money on this date and you haven't been paid then you will be paid when your money is due. The 7th isn't a bank holiday, i'm afraid.

This has happened to approx 800,000 ESA customers and approx 110,000 JSA customers, not sure why, but JCP's are expecting a lot of visitors next few days, got the email at work today.

Those affected got half of there money a week early and will get the rest on normal pay date.
