Hi is anyone on esa? I've just received a payment which totals exactly half of my normal amount of esa this was unexpected as my benefits isn't due until the 8th. I'm worried they have stopped my benefits and this is perhaps a final payment

Yes I have. Don’t quite understand why as I’m not due an ESA payment until January 8. But it’s exactly half of my benefit so, one weeks worth.0

Oh that's making me feel a lot better maybe it's everybody due on the 8th maybe we will get only a weeks worth of that date0

This has never happened to me before, and quite disconcerting as I was paid last Christmas as well, and this didn’t happen. This could be just the way the dates fall I suppose.
My mom who is severely disabled is due to be paid on the 9th. I will ask her to check her bank and see if it’s happened to her also.
It would give us a better clue if others have had the same experience.0 -
I'm due on the 7th and also got a single weeks payment today. Also had the same thought that I was being thrown off but after a google it seems to happen to a lot of people every year.
Would have been nice if we got a letter explaining this stuff as it's quite stressful not knowing what is going on.0 -
I have had the same thing and it's worried me as are the start of December I had to send of forms for a medical assessment. So I'm really worrying they have stopped my money as a result of that.0

Anyone affected will be contacted by the DWP and all backdated payments should be made by the end of 2019.
A spokesman for the department said the process of contacting people entitled to repayments may take some time.
There are 400 DWP officials working through cases, with more expected to be employed in the next month.
You're talking about the Incapacity benefit to ESA mistake, where thousands of people were under paid.0 -
The only way to find out why a payment differs from normal is to contact DWP. Anybody here, unless they are current DWP employees, can only guess.0

Payments due on the 1st January should be paid on the 31st. other than that I can't see any reason why part payment should be made OP I would advise tele the DWP on Monday.
eta: just checked my bank account and no early payment.0 -
On Monday DWP will be flooded by tens of thousands of people phoning enquiring why they have only got 1 weeks money!I enjoy flower arranging, kittens, devil worship, the study of serial killers and their methods and road kill jigsaws.0

It happens most years around this time. They always blame it on a computer glitch.0
