Got one of these a few months back. Had been texting with a couple of missed ones due to being away etc.

However couldn't revive box until today (had crashed out and wasn't responding) meaning I don't expect to make the 48 texts.

So have decided to go back to my old ex-on digital Philips box and wait to see if they recall this one. Seemed like a good idea at the time but in reality has proven to be something of a hassle.

    Inview Interactive User Panel

Inview are working with Teletext to provide a new enhanced on-screen TV listings service on Freeview, called Teletext Extra.

This new service will feature a sophisticated Electronic Programme Guide which will provide viewers with fully programmable 14 day listings and extensive preview and programme information. In addition it will carry direct links to an enhanced Teletext service. The guide is currently being rolled out to set-top boxes made by most of the major manufacturers.

Part of the EPG in Teletext Extra is dedicated to banners promoting new programmes, series, channels and other TV related material which viewers may be interested in. Some of the banners invite the user to press a button on their remote control in order to see more detailed information in a full screen format if they are interested in viewing it.

It is very important for the broadcasters who use these banners that they can get an idea of which banners are being displayed on TVs and whether viewers are choosing to view the extra information pages. That’s why we have set up the User Panel so that this information can be retrieved.

If I join the User Panel, what must I do?
You will need a mobile phone to text the information to a standard rate number supplied to you. Tel 07797 800360
You must use Teletext Extra as the EPG on the main TV in your house
You will need to leave the set top box in standby.

You need to access a special screen within the Teletext Extra TV guide as follows:

Whilst viewing TV on a Teletext Extra enabled set-top box, press the GUIDE or EPG button to enter the Teletext Extra EPG
Press the BLUE button to access the menu
Select (using the up and down arrow keys) the Help option
With the Help page showing, press (in sequence)
[PR -] [PR +] [OK] on your remote
    control.

The screen will ask you for your user number which you will have already been given and will consist of 6 numbers, you will need to type this in using the number keys on the remote control. You will then be shown another screen which asks you to send a text message (from any mobile phone) to this number 07797 800360. The text message you need to send will be shown on your TV and will consist of a sequence of letters and numbers.
Once you have sent the message you will receive a message back confirming receipt. If you have entered it incorrectly you will receive a message back saying that there was a problem with what you sent, in which case you will be asked to re-type the message and send it again.

How often will I need to do it?
We would like you to send a message once a week on a Monday, If you are late or early by a day or so it doesn’t matter. The service will start on 12th October 2007 and we would like to receive your first report on Monday 15th October, although you can join the user panel anytime after this date.

What’s my incentive to take part?
We would like to reward you by giving you £50.00 of Marks and Spencer vouchers once a year to say thank you for your assistance. In addition we will have a prize draw once a month where one person each month will win a TV and three other people will win a smaller prize each. In order to be eligible for the Marks and Spencer vouchers you will need to send the information for a minimum of 48 weeks of the year. Information on the results of the draw will be available on request.

Do I have to do anything else?
From time to time we may ask you to fill out and return a paper questionnaire regarding your use of Teletext Extra.

The only other requirement is that you use Teletext Extra as part of your regular TV viewing on the main TV and that you leave your box in standby.

This is from post 3 of this thread I assume these are the terms and conditions.
  • Just got of the phone to inview and oh so angry. I am up to 52 text now and was asking after my vouchers, Was told 5 weeks ago they were in the post now been told it will be end of January before I get any vouchers as It is not a 48 week rotation now but a 52 week rotation. When I rang 5 weeks ago to say my phone number had changed , was told they would be in the post the end of that week and would take a few days to get to me. Now I am been told the end of january as the rotation is 52 weeks.

Please someone tell me they have got there vouchers for christmas and that we are not been ripped.

Yes we got a freeview box but with the promise of vouchers at the end of 48 weeks and not to get them till later is a let down. Plus the texts we send costs money as well yes before you jump in the texts are only 10 -12p each that i know so dont need telling.:T
