Also, what happens when I go on my two week holiday? Uh-oh!

You have to send 48 in 52 weeks, so even with two weeks holiday you should be OK!!! I think I read somewhere that you can register with them that you are going on holiday, but don't quote me on that!

Anyway, as long as you don't go swanning off for a month or so, you should still get your 48 in, in a year!

  • I pull the plugs out at night, and wondered if thats gonna matter, as they make a point of sayin ,it should be left on standby?
Sorry SuperMoneysaving hon, but it has to be left on standby so that means leaving it plugged in 24/7. Otherwise it wipes all the data clear and I assume messes up their data collection.

Oh and So Mental - I had that problem this morning, tho it worked fine yesterday! I ended up having to unplug it at the mains and plug it back in again. Not sure if the heat had affected it, but nothing was responding. I know it isn't ideal and I am emailing them to tell them I had to do it. Hopefully I can keep the window open in the room now so it shouldn't overheat!:rotfl:

Money Saving Diva - you seem to know a lot about this!!!

When you have sent your 48 texts - do you have to send the box back or can you keep it forever and send no more texts?

The box is yours to keep. In 12 months time, the box will be obsolete anyway.

Turning the box off means it does not download the latest guide listings and may lose your usage history which I guess is why they ask for it to be left in standby.

The £50 M&S vouchers will cover any increased usage in electricity down to leaving the box on standby so nothing to worry about there.

My box froze yesterday too - had to unplug it to get it to respond. I was channel hopping a fair bit though :D

I got my freeview box today, only when i tried to do the left ,right, up down enter, nothing happened has anyone got any suggestions on what i could be doing wrong or is it that this only works on mondays?

    try these steps:

Press Guide or EPG button to enter the Teletext Extra EPG

Press Blue button to access menu
select using up and down keys the help option
with help option showing press in sequence

left arrow, right arrow,pr- pr+ and Ok on remote control

the screen will ask for your user number which you will have already been given and will consist of 6 numbers you will type this in using the number keys on the remote control, you will then be shown another screen which asks you to send a text message from any mobile phone, the text message you need to send will be shown on your tv and will consist of letters and numbers,Once you have sent the message you will have a message sent confirming reciept,If you have entered it incorrectly you will recieve a message saying that there was a problem with what you sent,in which case you will be asked to retype the message and send it again.

we would like you to send a message once a week on a monday :) the number to send the message is at the top of the screen once you have placed your user number. If you are still not sure contact them on feedback@inview.co.uk

As has already been said, you get to keep it but it may well be obselete by then.

As for me knowing a lot about it....I am just one of those people who enjoy reading the small print on things I guess...:o And as I had only just received my box, the info was all new and sparkly in my head, ready to regurgitate when needed...*giggles*.

Eeek - having re-read this, 'regurgitate' was probably not the most attractive word I could have have chosen...:rotfl:

Thanks for this, tried signing up on line, no errors but no confirmation either - should there be one?

Already have a digibox, but another one for the bedroom would be good!
