beware- they only accept you if you have an external arial. we are in flats so I have cable, and they declined me.
The requirement is that you can receive Freeview. I have been on the panel since last year and I do not have an extenal aerial, I use only the TV's built in loop aerial. However reception varies from area to area and some people will need an inside booster aerial (you can get them specifically for Freeview) and for others even this will not be sufficient and they will indeed need an external aerial.
Incidentally I am also in a flat, again it doesn't follow that this means you have cable, however if you do have cable (or Sky or Freesat) then you would not need Freeview.0 -

You know I have had no end of trouble with this
I initially joined in February, signed up and then heard nothing. Kept getting text messages every Monday asking for a code. Thought nothing of it.
Come April I get a phone call from the panel who ask me if everything is okay and if I know how to send text messages. I inform the lady that I havent yet received a set top box. She said she'd investigate.......
May comes. I get a jiffy bag with a SAE in order to send my set top box back. What set top box?. Phone the panel. They told me that it was sent out in February via Royal Mail parcels. I never got a 'sorry you were out card'. It was a long time ago then. Proceed to tell lady that no set top box has been delivered. I'm assuming she thinks I'm lying . I feel awful. I asked her if it was delivered with needing a signature. She tell me no  .
I go to sorting office to ask. They tell me that if a parcel is unclaimed by me then it will be sent back to the orginal sender (if known) if not then to a holding centre and then auctioned off  . No record of it in the office - they dont keep records grrrrrrrrr. I ask the lady at teletext to see if it has been returned back to them as it had a specific identity code to me on it. She said she'd keep me informed.........
No news since........all this bother for a £10 freeview boxI only wanted to help out and receive the M&S vouchers and do some good :A
I feel like I've done something wrong. I dont know if it has been stolen by Royal Mail, if it was never sent out or if it was returned back to them - I know NOTHING
So who knows whats going to happen? and why cant they send them out signed for?????????? at least they would know if they are being received and at least Id not be labelled a thief! grrrrrrrrrrrr
sorry to rant :beer:0 -

I got my Box delivered an hour ago.
Tried to set it up but can't get a signal here for some reason.
To be honest I've not had my Ariel plugged in to my sky box for years! I'm not sure if it's the cabling needing fixed or my area. :S
I'm heading over to a relatives later tonight! i'll "borrow" their Ariel to see if there is any differenceLaters

Bit of a pain to ring up if you're going on holiday, and what if you later decide you want satelite - I guess you'll have the expense of returning the freeview box........I thought I could install it on a bedroom TV as I have Sky downstairs but you have to say it will be your main TV.....and don't forget some people still can't get decent Freeview reception so best to check first!!"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0

How would they know it's not on the main tv?
Unless the code you text them is some encrypted usage monitor reading........Laters
