that's what they were offering originally! But I keep saying (Only cos yu could all spend a fortune on texts, check when the year started for texting. Like i say on mine it had started several weeks before so I couldnt have made 48 in what was left of the year if I wanted to. Plus you're paying for extra leccy to leave it on standbyI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0

I certainly wouldn't be leaving it on standby either!! I am an eco warrier!!
so do you still get the codes to text in than?
because i leave mine on standby and every morning about 3am the box starts to blink as if its downloading things..and it blinks for almost 30 mins to be4 it stopsChange Jar: £19

If you read the setup instructions you'll see that this is when the FULL EPG is downloaded.
If it's been turned off - the Electronic Program Guide needs to reload and the one that loads "anytime" shortly afterward turning it back on is ONLY 2 days (today & tomorrow)
However the FULL 14 days EPG loads in the early hours - if it's turned off this can't happen.
I'd also suggest that some of the TELETEXT EXTRA pages that they want you to look at also come down at the same time.
The texts are to only a "standard rate number" which are free on my very cheap contract phone and would be only 10p each on my PAYG so can't cost me more than £4.80.
The unit only consumes 7 Watts when it is turned on (and less in stand-by) and will only consume about 60 kWhours in a year if left "fully" on 24/365. About 40 of these will be at the daytime rate of 10p per unit, so cost £4, and 20 at the night rate of 4p per unit (another 80p). So maximum cost is £4.80 - and probably a lot less - half I'd estimate.
So for a maximum of £9.60, I've been given a Freeview box worth at least twice as much and I will be sent £50 in about a years time for a total of 1 hours work.
In reality the texts will be £0.00 and electricity will be £2.50, I've a better box (very quick) than I had, now on another TV (and at some point I'll need another 3 or 4 at least for every TV in the house anyway) and I can see all the TV listings for 2 weeks ahead and it'll do very clever searches for repeat episodes and such like and set reminders for them. (far better than the TV times)
You don't get much better than that !
