Five days since my introductory post.
The two loads of general rubbish and two loads of recycling have gone. As have an old refrigerator and an old freezer: ready for collection tomorrow under the local council's 'bulky waste' scheme. Palaver getting to this point, so may well not be the last I hear or see of them ....
BUT, for the first time in rather too long, I can see (a bit) more space and (a bit) less stuff. :jDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE
Wednesday has been a fairly mild bright day :T but unfortunately started raining about an hour agoMy F*tb*t is happy - reached all my goals :T Today’s decluttering project was writing, addressing, marking date for posting & weighing birthday cards for May through to the end of July :T I am going to count this as ONE :rotfl: Cheated re dinner - takeaway curry for me & DH & takeaway Chinese for DSis - not very MSE
but always lasts for two days dinners
246 Three months of birthday cards ready for posting :rotfl:
Now the bit I enjoy most - cheerleading
White_musk, it must be luvverly to have a box & bag free living roomLots of lovely space & you can see your floor :T
Nice to see you oceanspiritThrough the magic 50 :T Well Done :T I see you are a bit behind on the detailing email task :rotfl: Five minutes a day may help you
- that reminds me - when I finish cheerleading I will have a quick look & see what I can get rid of
:D
chocolatelover93, I had to look up ‘daith piercing’ - I have learned something new - thank you :T Well Done on decluttering to CS :T & an extra huge WELL DONE on resisting temptation in the CS :T:T:T Good luck with both the cleaning products & the paperwork
Wednesday2000, well decluttered - a holey bag - having 2 saints in the house is enough :rotfl:
milasavesmoney, even if you only get rid of the boxesyou have started decluttering :rotfl: So have at it :rotfl: but if you manage to fill them - even better :rotfl:
Hermia, I am not brave enough to go the Kondo routeAt the moment I have lots of drawers & cupboards of Doom & a dining room with a dozen crates/boxes to sort through + my DH’s office of Doom - as you can tell most of the clutter that absolutely must be sorted is hidden from my view at least :rotfl: or neatly stacked :rotfl: Have you decided which room you are repopulating first? I have every faith in you :T
Especially if you sell most of the stuff you declutter :T :rotfl:
Onwards & outwards:D
chupachups4, it is surprising how quickly the time goes by - what happened to January? Perhaps get them to understand that you only have 2 hands & the whole decluttering process would go quicker if they pitched in. Perhaps give them responsibility for specific tasks.:o Any hoo, Well Done on putting more pennies in the pot :T I am started to get excited for you
somerandom, excellent news re the leak& Well Done on persuading DS to part with items - a credit to you :A & it bumps your numbers up :rotfl:
choille, I love a free flowing drawer that doesn’t have contents that attack you every time you open it :rotfl: I had a vision of the till in Open All Hours :rotfl: Hopefully with OH pitching in you will enjoy being in your kitchen againWell Done on keeping the clutter moving out :T
Barny1979, I hope they were huge boxes :rotfl: Well Done on keeping the clutter moving out :T - I find dismantling boxes is very therapeutic because I generally practice being a circus strongman :rotfl:
Well Done, Fire Fox :T Shame you aren’t decluttering by weight :rotfl: a fridge & a freezer leaving your home :rotfl: a couple of heavy items would really bump up any weight target :rotfl: Hope your council is as good as mine re collecting bulky wastethey were only one day late
Now remember how pleased you are at seeing a bit of space - it will help spur you on in your decluttering quest :rotfl:
That’s all folks :rotfl: See you later

Moved furniture around to make space for wardrobe in DS1 room. His old one was falling to bits when he moved out.
Some more stuff out of the house
180-183 more piles of MIL paperwork. Some junk mail that DH had keot.
184-188 more work related catalogues of DH.
Have moved some books out of the room.
Found more photo albums I need to go they then and reduce the amount we have to a few nice albums which we will never look at!!0 -
I seem to have come to a standstill - a fortnight ago I sent 2 boxes to Vin*age Cash Cow, sold two things on Facebook market place, took bags to the chazzer, and nothing's happened since!!
I'm trying to inspire my DD, she's a hoarder by nature, like I used to be. She's trying though, she did a bit yesterday she was telling me last night, and has some stuff to go. She says she feels better after getting rid of things - we know that feeling don't we!!
One of my DILs is a major hoarder - they've moved several times and there are boxes that have never been unpacked between moves. A lot of it is baby/small child stuff which will never get used again, but she says she can't bear to let it go. One day she might see the light, I hope so.0 -
Skulls in.....
I'm going outside now to do my car. I have been saying this for a week so it's got to be done. Oh and the stairs I've been saying I'm going to do for a week are still cluttered. I will do those too today. Once they are done I can vacuum the stairs.
I've been a lazy thing this week.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Took about 30 plastic coat hangers to CS, was not sure they would want them but they were pleased, also 2 boxes of hair dye, sticking to the all over grey/white now. When cleaner came yesterday I asked if she was starting a bottom drawer as she seems the sort that would, she is, so showed her a peice of Mum's dinner/tea set which she and I collected in the 70's? little blue flowers, she loved it and now I will box it all up for her. Also gave her a box of 4 crystal wine glasses, never used, and she said she would be interested in Mum's when I have sorted them out, they are still wrapped in newspaper since I cleared Mum's home. My children either are not interested or already have a full set of things (and some of mine which they do not want until I go !! ) and I have been loathe to just give them unless I felt they would be appreciated. She asked how much I wanted but TBH I will be pleased they are going to a good, welcoming home.0

That's nice that they are going to someone who will love and appreciate them.
I've just cleaned my recently decluttered bedroom in 10 minutes . If that's not motivation to clear the rest of the house then what is!1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

My biggest food trigger is either going too long between meals or eating a lot of sweet food
Mine is usually going without food. It's good to find other people the same as a lot of people have food triggers.somerandom wrote: »@Cranky40 - I take Sumatriptan - when I first started I took the full dose and it floored me - I now only take half a tablet at a time and taken early enough it does the trick and doesn't make me feel awful!
Thank you for the advice. I'll try that. It's very unnerving going to bed after the full dose feeling like you won't wake up again!
No actual items decluttered today but I've been through the spare room and three buckets of recycleable paperwork/boxes/receipts no longer needed are in the recycling bin. I'm having a knitting and cooking day today so I can't see anything else leaving the building0 -
I used up a couple more things from my toiletries stash this morning. I am really going to only keep the ones I like as I bought lots of products over the years that don't suit me!:D
I was thinking of getting rid of my gold wedding ring when I lose weight as it was second hand and I might replace it with a new silver one.
I doubt it would be worth selling it as it only cost £40 from ebay in 2006?chocolatelover93 wrote: »I might give the food dairy a go tbh I am on SW and when I stick to it and eat healthy I feel ok unless I don't eat for too long then I get one but when I eat carp I get more headaches
Yes, it's definitely worth giving it a go.:)

Early this morning (about 2:00 a.m.) the wind picked up - gale force gusts - wheelie bins blowing over, watering cans & compost bags flying around  But very grateful that we have no breakages :T Our compost bag - which was emptied this a.m. had vanished from sight but guess what, my mini walk to build up my steps to keep the F*tb*t happy :rotfl: resulted in me finding the bag :T:T:rotfl: it had blown round the corner, through an archway & had come to rest near the mini power station shed :rotfl: It is now safely ensconced in the garage :rotfl:
Beautiful day now, sunny with blue skies but still a tad windymy longer walks should be interesting
Straight into cheerleading
village life, you are going great guns - moving furniture & sorting paperwork :T I am absolutely positive it breeds :rotfl:
The comment about the photo albums brightened my day considerably :rotfl: - I have quite a few albums, some in the loft + thousands of photos  My excuse for not dealing with them - I think you will like this- is that DH said he wanted to scan them but his office is a bit of a tip so I don’t want to add to his pressure to declutter :rotfl:
ScarletRibbons, did you get any pennies for the V*nt*ge C*sh C*w boxes? Now I have to tell you offyou are doing a great job inspiring your DD :T:T Gentle encouragement will work wonders
especially if she starts to see & feel the benefits of decluttering :j As for the DIL, could she be a bit cash strapped? Perhaps a bit of gentle encouragement to ‘sell’ a few bits or maybe she is a crafter & could make a quilt or something? Does your DD get on well with your DIL? maybe with her new found confidence in decluttering she could inspire her SisIL
Sorry if I am speaking out of turn
but it makes me really sad when I read about people with hoarding tendencies
parsniphead - you are NOT lazy - you are recharging your decluttering batteries :rotfl: Please do not do too much - little & often with plenty of cuppas is the way to go :rotfl: or at least that is my reasoning
Thank you for the cleaning post :T nice to be reminded of one of the many benefits of decluttering
whmf00001, Well Done on the decluttered coat hangers :T surprising how much room they take up in the wardrobeReally pleased that you have found a good home for well loved items - don’t forget to thank them for their service before you wrap them :rotfl::rotfl:
CRANKY40
decluttering anything especially paperwork is STILL decluttering :T & I think ‘rewarding’ yourself with a cooking & knitting day gets the thumbs up 👍 from me
Wednesday2000, Well Done on decluttering toiletries :T I bet it is making the bathroom look tidier every time you finish a lotion or potion & dispose of the packaging/bottleRe the wedding ring, if you don’t want to sell it either on e*ay or to a jewellers as scrap, you could donate it to the CS. Glad I brought a smile
Whatever you are all doing today remember to take care of yourselvesSee you later.
