Very sad de-cluttering today as had to have my cat PTS yesterday in an emergency situation. So today am packing up his stuff, unopened food etc to hand in to Cat's Protection lady as that's where he came from several years back.
House seems quite empty with out him rubbing around my ankles.

    Sending ((((HUGS)))).

I've been there, it leaves such a hole in your life.

  • I'm really sorry about your !!!!!cat. I've always had a cat in my life down the years and it never gets easier having to say goodbye.

I lost Poppy after 17 years (she was a rescue kitten) in March of this year. Broke my heart. But went to see my friend who owns an animal sanctuary and came home with an old boy cat who had been the subject of a nasty cruelty case. He just needed a safe home, cuddles and food (lots of it) and although I thought I may have got him on the rebound he has well and truly settled in and we are great mates. Love him to bits.

Anyway, great big cyber hugs to you xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • More for today.

1124-1132 packs of paper towels for DH work. They have been in the cupboard for a while. Still more left but hopefully he will take them soon.
1133 -1137 packaging of various things recycled. The boxes were falling to bits.
1138-1139 bits of plastic recycled. No idea what they are.

Watched the 'minamalists' on a ted talk and feel more motivated.

Have sorted a few plates to get rid of.
A roll of pretty wall paper is being used to line some drawers and some things in the drawers put like with like elsewhere, only a few things got rid of
    Picture frame
    Key ring
    electronic clutter
2 cards and 1 important pack of documents
    old packaging binned
    odds and ends binned
will count as 10 when I remember where I was.

Reread my last note and apologies Choille my message didn't read as I meant. I can't believe how fond of our cat I am given I'm a dog person so lots of sympathy.

Apparently the average American has about 300,000 in their home. I always thought I should aim to get rid of 20% of my belongings. Assuming I have less than most americans it will still take me til too long to have life the other side of the clutter!

Any ideas for bedrooms. I tidy mine at the weekend, and then with work and my kids (teenagers +) things don't get put away all the time - I seem to spend forever tidying but end up climbing over things!

Forgot to mention that on Sunday my DB phoned & we had a lovely long chat. His sons don’t seem to have a moment to themselves between school, piano lessons, handball, football, violin lessons, horse riding & I have probably missed a few activities :rotfl:
Monday was a mixed day weather wise - some sunshine & warmth up to about 3:30 p.m. then rain, rain & more rain but did manage one 40 minute stint of beautifying our Close - weeding & moss scraping of two driveways & the kerbside in front of 2 houses.
It was our 27th anniversary - card from me to DH. DH spoilt me card & a box of Thorn*ons chocolates. Made my first visit to L*dl today (too far to walk so bus both ways :() - definitely cheaper than As*a & would have spent under £9.00 if I hadn’t picked up a pot of heather :rotfl: Pleasantly surprised by how much nicer the fresh fruit & vegetables look than in As*a :D When I got back there was a beautiful bouquet 💐 from DH (delivered 5 minutes after I left ;)) He really did spoil me :D
My present was a special dinner (did let DSis share :rotfl:) - but I did get DH to cook the rump steaks :rotfl: - oven chips, baked tomatoes seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper & chives, fresh carrots & I made a creamy mushroom & brandy sauce. Absolutely delicious 🤤 - the steak was from the butchers & because DH cooked it so well it was melt in the mouth (mind you I did do the seasoning :rotfl:) A couple of hours later we had hm apple pie & custard.
Deglazed the frying pan & added the juices to the hm soup I made Monday. Will reheat, zizz & taste test later today.

DH was busy in the garage again - the pillar drill project - cleaned & partially painted in dark green plus finished the restoration of the coffee grinder - it is a work of art painted black & all the brass polished to a high shine :T
Chatted with just 2 neighbours today :p ‘Mr Awkward’ was tidying his front garden & found a dead rat buried in the leaves  ‘Mrs Nice’ (his ndn) had found a dead rat in her back garden last week & we had one a couple of weeks ago :T - our foxes have been busy :rotfl:

3502 - 3511 Three drinks cans, glass bottle & metal cap, plastic tray, 20 page booklet, paper packaging, cardboard packaging, foil carton & plastic lid, foil packaging - Recycled
3512 - 3514 Bag of kitchen detritus, 2 lots of cellophane packaging - Binned

Well Done :T - bonding time with your daughter is way more important than decluttering ;) but you are doing both :T Slow & steady wins the race (at least according to Aesop :rotfl:). Hope your wife is doing a bit better & congratulations to your daughter for finding such bargains :T

Well Done: Catcrazy - you miscounted - you are on 358 ;) :T; villagelife- decluttering & saving the planet :T; Cherryfudge you have been busy & I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ mainly for being kind to the spider :rotfl: :T; whmf00001 - see Justin can be useful occasionally :rotfl: - hope you are feeling better & fingers crossed 🤞 re the bay of e sales :T; Poppy_Golightly you get a Gold Star for adopting a cat - always surprises me how quickly cats get themselves ensconced :D :T; TC77 - maybe get the teenagers to be responsible for keeping their own rooms tidy & clean ;) if they keep them tidy for a month perhaps you can cook them their favourite meal ;) If they keep their rooms tidy for 3 months in a row maybe a meal out :) If you keep your bedroom tidy maybe the teenagers can cook a meal for you :rotfl: + do the washing up :rotfl: Good work on the decluttering :T

See you all tomorrow - more rain forecast but I do need to do some washing so td might come into play :p

Congratulations on your anniversary Mrs SD:)

Only one bag of rubbish gone so far but a load of bags lined up for the CS. Some will go in on Sunday and some the week after.
Moving stuff from one room to another I have followed the sagely advice you gave:
    6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE
as I pick up a bag or box and sort through it. I am a bit of a butterfly so I am proud to have cleared at least ten bags and boxes, sorting or throwing, in the last few days. :T:j:T

i am off out tonight but DH hasn't arrived home yet so I am going to do a bit more.:)

Tuesday has been rain, rain & yet more rain :( so no beautifying today :( However I did manage to get to & from the sm without getting wet :T Did 2 wash loads but had to resort to the td (did use my NZ wool ball :D) DSis hoovered downstairs whilst I was out :T. By the way the hm soup has been zizzed & is absolutely delicious 🤤 - very tomatoey :p

DH was busy in the garage again - the pillar drill project - put back together (making sure all the pieces were there ;)) & continued painting in dark green.

Bit of a come down on the dinner tonight - cheesy beans on toast :rotfl:

3515 - 3525 Three drinks cans, glass bottle & metal cap, 2 food cans, newspaper, magazine,
2 lots of cardboard packaging, cardboard box - Recycled
3526 - 3527 Bag of kitchen detritus, plastic packaging - Binned

Thanks bit by bit - I cannot believe we have been married 27 years & have known each other almost 31 years ;) where has the time gone  Excellent work on the bags, bit by bit :T Unfortunately I cannot lay claim to the mantra - I appropriated it from another poster :rotfl: I have to admit that, like you, I tend towards being a butterfly so I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ for curbing your ‘flitting about’ so successfully :T

See you all tomorrow - more rain forecast but hopefully some dry spells as I need to do some gardening/planting.

Hello all, the wanderer returns....... I'm back from my hols :D. I really hope everyone is well, hugs-a-plenty if not.
I am sorting and cleaning the caravan stuff at present, actually I'm up to my eyes in it and it's everywhere it shouldn't be . However the holiday clothes have been washed and are waiting to be sorted, then put away and as some items have seen better days they will be demoted to house clothes, then in turn the house clothes will be relegated to DIY/gardening or rag bag. I also need to bring out our winter things and sort through those as I think summer has left us for another year :(. I'm sure there are some items that probably are no longer needed / fit.
Our bank account has been decluttered as we needed a new car battery ( luckily we managed to get home ) and our caravan cover has split so we need a new one of those too :(. Never rains but it pours!
Unfortunately we have also recluttered some extra weight........ :shhh: too many cream teas perhaps :naughty:, and so we're back on the diets. Will have to tighten our belts literally and figuratively

MrsSD We had 2 tawny owls on site, I called them Bert and Ernie :D and they would call to each other every night. There was a noisy Mr pheasant who sounded like he had a sore throat who would be our wake up call and a resident barking fox. We also found a lovely, friendly, black Labrador in our awning one day . We weren't very surprised at that as we have had other dogs, several cats and hedgehogs over the years in there, all of which seem to want to be adopted by us :rotfl:.
Anyway enough frivolity it's now back to the decluttering in earnest....... wherever that may be :p.
    Take care all, happy decluttering.
    nan xx
