Thanks Picklepot and I shall have a look for that book as it sounds interesting.
MrsSD. Thank you too. Unfortunately my Dad doesn't have a soft spot for anyone. It took me and DD 4 years of badgering to get him to part with my late Mums clothes and stuff. In the end we had to bully him into it, which was uncomfortable for us as it was not a pleasant thing to do.
I am determined not to go down that route for my DDs sake, but I have told her to do as she pleases with anything I leave behind, even just chucking everything in a skip if that's what she wants.
On the decluttering front I have a new bag ongoing for the cs, which I shall add to as I go around the house. There is also some wood ready for a tip trip, but I need to get some more stuff organised so that we fill the car :j.
Happy decluttering all.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
nannywindow i have two DS' one is a minimalist and one sentimental. I have told them both that im clearing now as the one given the choice will put it all in a skip anyway and the other will be left with the job. I dont refer to when i die , i just say when their dad and i are happily playing on the wii in the nursing home i dont want them to have all this to sort:rotfl: I often include them in the 'should it stay or go' dilemma and have told them to let me know if theres anything they particularly want i will put a sticker underneath. The things i get stuck on are mainly theirs anyway!! childhood momento's
So not depressing at all0 -
Oh Mrs Saladdodger. You cracked me up with the thought of your DH off to the tip with a loaded motorbike. What a star he is.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

I'm pleased with what I have achieved but reckon no one else will notice.
I need so much more to go but every little helps.0 -
Actually took the two boxes of items to the charity shop today, they didn’t want the hangers though; not sure what to do with them now. Deleted a MASS of old passwords from the computer keychain, about 500 some of them dated back about 12 years and the websites they tagged to no longer existed .
So
565 - 566 two boxes to charity shop. The stuff inside was already accounted for.
567 -1067 password keychain tidied up
1068 - 1077 general recycling
It’s been slow but I’ll try to crack on it more tomorrow“Isn't this enough? Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex

1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE
Success :j Stuck to my shopping list, Austrian potato salad & focaccia made :T The car wreck has been removed :j pleasant chat with a lady with a toddler to whom I gave some seed so she could feed the water fowl & another lady taking her little one out for a walk in the pushchair. We discussed the water fowl & she was so pleased when I pointed out the coots & their 5 attractive offspring - took out her phone & snapped a couple of photos. Sm was quiet, no queue at checkout, only had to wait 5 minutes for the bus. Dinner was chicken pieces fried in butter, boiled new potatoes & green bean - yummy 😋 DH has pottered in his office but did water the garden & DSis has dumped a pile of clothes for me to sort out as to their final destinationI know, I know but I am just grateful that she has got around to sorting them out :rotfl:
Lovely thing tonight - popped next door to deliver a couple of packages & was invited in & given a beerHad a lovely chat about holidays & the weather. Also learnt something new - my neighbour usually suffers dreadfully from hay fever but this year nothing :T Apparently he has completely cut out dairy from his diet & one of his colleagues advised him that cutting out dairy quite often helps with hay fever symptoms.
2222 - 2228 Two drinks cans, 2 empty beer cans, 3 lots of cardboard packaging - Recycled
2229 Bag of kitchen detritus - Binned
Picklepot, I know the feeling well - it so easy to get overwhelmedI haven’t read ‘Swedish Death Cleaning’ but I did read a long article about it. Really appealed, as it seems to be about how the declutterer feels with the added bonus of less work for those left behind when you depart this mortal coil
Well Done villagelife :T as long as you notice & take pride in your decluttering achievements that is all that matters. We are proud of you& you can but hope that one day a.n.other member of your household will notice
That’s a shame nannywindowNever mind, hopefully you are the one to break the clutter cycle :rotfl: The silver lining is that when your dad does go, you will already have earmarked what can go & where to
parsniphead, he really is a star 💫 - he must be to put up with me :rotfl:
See you all tomorrow

Thank you for the welcome back, Mrs SD. Your home is really coming along with all your decluttering and the work your DSis and DH are doing. I love that you enjoy the wildlife around your home area.
I read this morning that the key to a happy life is simplicity and the definition of success is fulfilment. Having had such a wonderful time away just watching wildlife, the wind in the trees, the stream bubbling its way down the hill etc from where I was staying with very few possessions around me, I can vouch for that.
OH and I had a lovely walk along the beach just a couple of miles from home at 9pm last night and it was fabulous - watching the birds bobbing about on the calm water, the container ships chugging off to their next destination and the mist rising up off the marshes with the setting sun in the background.
I can't wait for our jobs lists to be virtually non-existent so we can do more of the simple things.
So, decluttering this past week:-
1 x bundle old sticky labels from VHS video cassettes - binned
1 meat plate - CS box
2 beer glasses - CS box
1 whisk - CS box
1 rusty whisk - scrap metal box
1 pillow case damaged beyond repair - rag bag
1 jar opener - CS box (I have another one better suited to my needs)
4 old local directories - recycling
10 old business cards/leaflets - recycling
8 bits of scrap paper with notes/messages on all ood - recyclingDecluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
