Didn’t get my ice cream but did get my postcards & water. Then spent half an hour sitting listening to the cellist & guitarist who had been joined by a lady violinist. Absolutely wonderful & they even played ‘ Londonderry Air’ or Danny Boy as I call it :rotfl: The piece of music that got the biggest round of applause was ................ wait for it .......................

The Game of Thrones theme music :rotfl:

The only thing that spoilt my enjoyment slightly was that there were 4 Japanese girls sat on the bench next to me & they chatted ALL the way through  Got back to hotel about 6:30 p.m. & woke my DH so he could have a shower. Then we tried to find our group :( We seemed to have been ostracised :( so DH & I dined alone in the same place as last night. I had the same meal chicken escalope in a cream sauce, with green beans & Spaetzel. DH had pork rosti in an hollandaise sauce. We shared a Chocolate Liegoise. Obviously had a couple of beers:beer: although I did drink a jug of water as well :A We were rewarded as we got to take a dozen photos of the white stork that perched on a chimney no more than 50 metres from where we were seated :T DH has an excellent digital SLR camera so the pictures are great even at 10 p.m. :D By the way - 5 postcards written & posted :p Hopefully they will all arrive at their destinations before our holiday is over :rotfl:

Another wonderful day & tomorrow, for lunch, we are meeting an old school friend of my DH who lives in France - they haven’t seen each other in 36 years

    Well Done Barny1979 :T

Well Done choille :T I bet the garden fork was laying in the long grass :rotfl:

Happy Kitties - getting into the habit of naturally decluttering - Well Done you :T That deserves a Gold Star ⭐️ - getting so good that you forget to count :rotfl:

    See you all tomorrow :D

I have been known to tell people like this to move away so they aren't disturbing people who actually want to listen. Last time we were at Lamar Tree festival near the front of the main stage and a group of 'yours' used in near s and then proceeded to laugh and jape around all though the act we were watching, they were there for later act. After a few paddington bear stares they ignored, but saw and giggled about, I got vocal and told them if they didn't poke off elsewhere I would be getting really angry, I hadn't paid a lot of money to have my enjoyment ruined by them. They went very sheepishly away to a round of good riddance and clapping form the other adults around us.

Monday has been even hotter than yesterday, low 30’s :D :T but no cooling breeze :( We had breakfast in the hotel then DH went to collect the bike from the secure underground parking 10 minute walk from hotel - all cobbled streets in Colmar Old Town & no hotel parking :( Neither of his cards would work, but there was a bank above the car park. Not very cheap but at least we knew the bike was safe :p Meanwhile I did the packing & then retired to the courtyard with my iPad & played Ang*y B*rds 2, whilst drinking coffee :rotfl: He got back & looked like he had been thrown in the canal  So he showered & changed & we set off for our lunch date in Bergholtz, Haut Rhine. We saw a couple of low flying storks & I saw about 10 more in a recently mown field. We kept trying to get up into the hills (cooler air) but were thwarted at every turn :wall: so straight to La Petite Auberge. We spent 2 hours over lunch which was splendiferous - an amuse-Boucher, a sushi type starter, sea bass on a bed of vegetables, a sorbet with blobs of cream & raspberries with a chocolate sauce. The whole meal was delicious - DH & his friend had a single small beer each (I had 2 as I wasn’t driving :rotfl:) but we did drink at least 6 bottles of water between us ;) Lots & lots of chat, catching up & laughter. We said our goodbyes & then DH & I set off up into the hills - took us 3 hours to travel 20 miles :rotfl: Lots of trees, reached 1,000m around hairpins & lots of switching back & forth. Pit stop at a hotel we stayed at 2 years ago for a coffee & a beer. Managed to find a space in front of the hotel to park the bike :T Showered again & changed & met up with all our group (they didn’t hide from us tonight ) had a beer & then dined Moroccan. I tried something different - tagine with meatballs & olives - although it was pleasant enough it was too aromatic for my taste. DH had couscous with meatballs & sausages in a tomato based sauce. Shared a chocolate liegeios again :T Lovely evening - lots of drink, laughter & memories. The stork was back on the chimney tonight & this time he ‘sang’ to us - lots of clacking of his beak :rotfl:

Walked back to hotel - where 3 of us peeled off back to our rooms & the other 7 went to have another beer ;)

Off to Remich tomorrow - scenic route & it is supposed to be even hotter

Well Done on the decluttering TamsinC :T I have also been known to tell people to be quiet but I don’t speak any Japanese :rotfl:

Well Done Barny1979 :T keep up the good work :)

    See you all tomorrow :D

I decided to give the donation bag to a clothes recycling place instead. I've added a few pairs of old slippers and a ripped cushion. I'm going to look through the airing cupboard as well as well as my sock and underwear drawer.

  • I used a lot of oddments of wool plus some bits of earlings and knitted a Twiddlemuff for my dd parents-in0law. Not sure if they are quite at that stage of dementure yet but if one of them does use it I will make another for the other one. Not sure it was well received by dd but it will keep. May do some for local "home" if I find they are useful. Bought 2 new nighties so will get rid of some I have had hanging around for years not in use plus some pj's which I do not really like to wear. Keep trying to declutter foods from freezer but neighbour keeps giving me the odd portion of Indian food which she gets from various weddings etc. It is lovely and I am rubbish at making myself so for anything I remove I end up replacing.

Why is it that spending a day dashing around vacuuming, running up and downstairs with laundry, fitting in an hour of gardening including mowing a lawn and digging weeds, getting some shopping in and prepping a couple of meals isn't anything like as bone-achingly exhausting as sorting and storing winter clothes, unpacking my summer wardrobe, putting boxes up on shelves and re=packing some storage. Which, by the way is just dispiriting and totally lacks the satisfaction of a job completed that I get from routine housework? I mean ..... Why?
