Many thanks for the responses about the video tapes. There is just one I want to find, it is of myself with my then schoolgirld daughter and my uncle when we were on a TV quiz. Managed to get a machine which I hope will work so will bin the ones I know what they are and then trawl whats left. .

A few days late but I’ve been decluttering while I’ve been lurking!
We moved house almost a year ago and still have a few boxes which says a lot about what’s in them I think! We’ve got till the 12th to sort them (then it’ll be a year)
I’m also trying to get the house in order, I’m not counting what I’m getting rid of, just trying to do something each day, might be a room but it might just be a drawer. Everything helps!0 -

Instead of calling at the supermarket for something for a quick tea (after taking the kids out with friends), we've decluttered food from the fridge, which would have continued to sit there and then been chucked! So we had pasta, smoked salmon, sweet potato & red onion bahjis, HM raita (to use up some dodgy cucumber and yoghurt), bendy carrots chopped up, cottage cheese, and crackers. :T Found an unopened packet of lebkuchen, so that's afters, and there's a small box of Quality St for supper for me and DH! :rotfl:

I don't mind the programme to be honest, but the talking to clothes etc us a step too far for me :rotfl:
It has give me a good mind at though especially regarding photos, which I've decluttered a lot of this evening.

I had a day off yesterday, shopping with lil sis, I'm ok with all I bought and considering my avoiding looking at jumpers a success! (I need no more jumpers!!). Did get a box for storage not sure what to use it for yet.
Inspired by the DVD and VHS talk I'm tackling my DVDs.
68 - 87 - DVD's to charity shop
88 - 128 - DVD's to music magpie, I'm at 45 for £5.21 I dread to think how much they cost >.< a couple I was on the fence about so if they were less than 10p I kept them. But anything else they wouldn't take went straight to charity shop pile
other than that I have been so lazy today, tomorrows aim is to defeat the clothing battle!Mrs_Salad_Dodger wrote: »I got up @ 8:30 a.m. this morning so I could pay the milkman- 3rd time lucky as I owed him 6 weeks payment
You are my milkmans dream! Or we are the worst customers  we paid the bill before Christmas and again this week it's the first time since we've lived here (moved here in 1995) that we've paid a milk bill when it's been less than £100 my mum actually said to keep an ear out for the milkman incase he fell over in shock :rotfl:
beenthere_donethat & IrishRose12 -I actually liked the thanking the clothes part
it sounded stupid, daft, and ridiculous, but I know it helped with things I could think of excuses to keep. I thanked them instead and sent them on their way be it charity, or bin. Some how thanking them made it ok not to make an excuse somehow.
I'm not overly sentimental, I've lost 3 and a half stone, I was a size 20-22 now a size 14-16 so I've a lot of stuff that just doesn't fit right... BUT! I'm self employed, I'm an artist, we have a boat, noone sees what I'm wearing most of the time, I spill ink and paint, and all manner of stuff on everything, and clothes get dunked in the sea, and caught on things on the boat so can't wear nice things there. So I always have the it's a bit big but it's ok excuse. I don't think I've kept a single thing that is too big but "would do". I think if anyone struggles with finding reasons to keep something, it might come in handy, it will do if/when... try thanking them and see if you can get rid, you never knowanything's possible if you've got enough nerve

I've been struggling to find the time to sort through everything but have been adding to the charity shop box a few items each day and I'll drop it all down during the week. I really need a couple of days to blitz everything and do a big tip run  maybe next weekend.GC 2023 June £72/500 NSDs 1/100

Thanks for the various suggestions for the videos of the village and gala: all useful! I think there will be local archives I can contact when I've identified which videos are which, but I might get a copy of me in my Gala queen regalia before I let that one go!
We have been out and buying things today, but it's more about maintenance than acquisition... there will be some bits to go in a few days, hopefully. I have a less-usual piece of decluttering to report today as I've re-purposed a large towel that tore, and done a bit of crochet practice at the same time. I now have a new hand towel for the kitchen and one fewer pieces of fabric hanging round. I already had the wool I used to edge it so it only cost time and I'm rather pleased with myself.
I've had a bit of a tidy up but haven't decluttered today.
