Very cold, overcast and wintery here in West Yorkshire today.
The weather forecast for next week is much warmer though.
Decluttering: Myself to the 'Cooking for One' thread! The ongoing task of rotating the freezer contents and reducing fresh food waste seems more suited to that thread.
However I will still post actual decluttering here: the mini stockpile of longlife ingredients plus anything that has been in the freezer for ages. That being said ...
Some freezer-burned butternut squash and an out-of-date block of creamed coconut souped. Bottle of Jersey milk from the freezer binned, chunk of Roquefort cheese from the refrigerator binned. Both were earmarked for soup but were too far gone by the time I bought broccoli.
A couple of loads of laundry that have been hanging about in the 'Hall of Shame' for several weeks finally done. Which decluttered all the hot water, and then my immersion heater went on strike ...
Was quite smug when I easily laid my hands on the plumber's invoice. :T
Recluttering: None for once!Glad to be of serviceHowever, I'm concerned about the need for an urgent wine run. This is something you should really maintain decent stocks of at all times!
Noooooooo. My jeans and my liver have submitted a joint plea for mercy. :eek:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE
Sunday was very cold even though there was lots of sunshine but I still took the opportunity to strip the bed, wash & line dry plus 15 minutes in the td to take the chill offDH watched the motor bike racing & was given the whole day off from decluttering or tidying :rotfl: Dinner was the second half of last night’s Chinese takeaway. A very lazy day all round

:hello: and Welcome aboard the Decluttering Bandwagon, Zentimes :j That sounds like a great plan of action - very organised. The fact that you did it 11 years ago should make it easier this time around. I thought you might have lost your original notebook  but then I carried on reading your post :rotfl: Please keep us posted as to your successesIt sounds like you intend to be ruthless in your decluttering - also sounds like the CS will be benefitting :T
:j:j Well Done chocolatelover93 :T. This gives us all hope for the futureI for one think it is absolutely wonderful that you now only have the day to day decluttering to do
Now you have time to do all the things you enjoy rather than spending loads of time decluttering :rotfl: Congratulations  Please pop in once in a while to encourage us
Happy decluttering everyone :rotfl:

Hello all, I've not posted for quite some time as I have been really poorly. Thankfully, well on the mend now, just left with a hacking cough and headache that just won't shift.
While I was ill (with my permission) my DD decluttered a large chest of drawers from my bedroom, a Welsh dresser and having had my television put up on the wall, the stand it used to sit on. This has given me so much more room in my little bungalow, it's great.
I'm not sure I'll be up to anything much this week, but hope to be back on my feet next week to finally clear out the last of my clutter and junk.Feb 2019 GC £151.53/£300God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, wisdom to know the difference.0 -
Hi MrsSD and all

In the course of my 5 year continuing mission, this morning I took a carload of stuff to the local hospice charity shop. Struggled in with first box to be met with a glowering surly teenager behind the counter. "Gift Aid" was barked at me. While I don't expect effusive thanks each time I donate a pleasant smile and a "Could you just leave it here?" would be fine with me.
I turned on my heel and took the rest of the carload (some really nice stuff too) to different charity shop where I was met with a big smile that lit up the shop and a "Can I help you with that?"
Guess where future donations (if I have anything left) are going?Flowers are sunshine for the soul0 -
I put a blazer and a trench coat that don't fit me in a bag for the chazzer.
I binned a faded dress, two pairs of leggings, a vest top and a pair of tights with a hole in the crotch!:D0 -

I have this problem, and am in the process of trying to find a new CS to donate to as I'm utterly fed up with the one I usually donate to (strangely enough, my local hospice shop).0 -
I'd like to join the decluttering ranks if I may!
I'm currently attempting to reduce the volume of 'stuff' we hardly use or don't use at all, and go through all the loft boxes. When we moved into this house, about 11 yrs ago, I had what was (at the time) a good system. I boxed up stuff and labelled the boxes with numbers, and had a record in a notebook of what each box contained. However over the years this system has broken down, with loft leaks, boxes retrieved for various items then shoved back into the loft, some boxes repacked and notebook entries crossed out, new ones made, new boxes numbered... well to cut a long story short, it's a mess up there!chocolatelover93 wrote: »
Did declutter half a bottle of wine last night :rotfl::rotfl:

And I thought there was something else, but can't find the pad I had it written on.........................erm so the dog that eats paper may well have decluttered it for me!!!!!!!:mad:
