Hello everyone
I had a big decluttering session and putting stuff in the right place session yesterday. I recycled loads of stuff and threw a pile away. It's still going to take a couple of days to sort the front room fully. When it's done I can make a good start on the spare bedroom.
I'm a bit pooped today after yesterday but have been doing bits and pieces this morning (after an hour watching the sewing bee). I'm going to do more this afternoon and this evening.
I have had to cancel the trip to the tip as the weather has been so bad. Next week maybe.
Anyway I must get on or I will be sitting on my backside all afternoon.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

So, things have been at a stalemate here as MIL and her broken pelvis have been in residence. She has now gone home, and so the decluttering is back on with a vengeance. I have two items that I just can’t decide on.
Firstly, a wooden ornament my Mum bought for me when I first moved from home & came to visit me. I don’t love it, but it does spark immense joy as it holds the memory. It is currently on my mantle piece and I just don’t know whether I charity shop it, though not sure if I can bring myself to do that, or whether I put it up in the loft. I have absolutely nothing in the loft, so it isn’t like I would be adding to piles of other stuff.
Secondly is three glass dolphins that my dad gave me from my grandmas bathroom when we moved her out. She’s got dementia and is in a home. I hate them, I hate that I have to move them to clean. This morning I’ve cleaned the bathroom and vowed that they aren’t going back. They spark no joy but I do feel guilty getting rid. Do I loft them, or charity shop them?0 -
Congratulations MadamMin!
Thanks for the gold start MrsSD, it is very much appreciated!!
I’m pleased to say all the ebay items have headed out the door to the post office, both my 8 and his 2. I am really noticing the difference having the house back to normal again with all the bookshelves in the right place etc. We’ve also noticed how much lighter and less oppressive the new streamlined room upstairs feels with fewer possessions.
Less is more - obvious but true!0 -
Oceanspirit/B] - thank you
the move went well
whmf00001 - happy belated birthday
Madam - congrtats on the new job!
Beshki - I was having similar feelings when I was decluttering or I didnt want to hurt peoples feelings but if I really didn't like it or want it I got rid. There are a few sentimental things I kept and they are in the loft but reduced that down from 3 boxes to 1 and a half
Took a boot full of rubbish to the tip yesterday.
Went through my sons toys again and gave a bag full to his nursery so they can get some use out of them
Also managed to declutter half a tooth while eating pasta....no idea how!! So I am going to have to get into the dentist at some point lol.
Sold some old toys on FB and gave away an old moses basket, stand and breast pump. So thats another lot of things gone. Need to list some more stuff on FB to sell.
Still got some paperwork to go through and go through all cupboards and things and make sure everything is where I want it.
On the subject of paperwork how long do you usually keep things for and which paperwork do you not need to keep? I have loads of bills, tennancy agreements, car bits etc.

5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE
Wednesday started quite bight & dry but still windy  Has now clouded over & looks set to rain
DH has been a busy bee - last night he put the 2nd coat of paint on another small section of the garage floor, so that was dry this morning & he has fixed the 3rd shelving unit to the wall. He has also switched off the electric & put a new safe face plate on the wall socket :T & run wires round both sides of the garageHe has made a Tip run & started filling a bag for the next Tip run :T He has also sealed the concrete on the next portion of garage floor ready for painting
I on the other hand have been quite lazy - I have started on the washing, done the washing up, kept DH supplied with hot drinks & ‘supervised’ :rotfl:
736 - 739 Small bag of garage detritus, 3 manky sponges - Tip bag
Well Done chupachups4 :T still going strong :T
Well Done Barny1979 :T especially counting bits rather than a single item :rotfl: after all you have gone to all the trouble of dismantling the wardrobe :rotfl:
CONGRATULATIONS MadamMim :T:T Excellent start to the day - a new job & reinvigorated decluttering/tidying :T
Gold Star ⭐️ parsnipheadI love the sewing bee
& excellent OS :T Never learnt to sew as had only one term of sewing & one term of cooking in secondary school
the grammar school was only interested in our brains not making us fit for living in the real world
by providing us with actual life skills
Beshki, how about photographing them together & framing the photo? Then you can look at the photo & memories are preserved plus you can still have a completely empty loft :rotfl:
You are more than welcome Wanna Bee FreeYou sound like you are winning the war on clutter :T & unfortunately it is a war :rotfl: Totally agree that ‘stuff is oppressive’
Ouch chocolatelover93Well Done on the eclectic mix of decluttering :T I will ponder the paperwork question :rotfl:
Well Done Rootle :T keeping your hallway clear is a great lift to the spirits :T
See you later

'Ey up!
Still windy here...
The DVD's mentioned in the last post have gone to the charity shop! I think that was 108 items out?
109: Bag of batteries to the recycling.
110: Post for people that don't live here returned to sender.
111: Small change converted to something more useful!
112: More odd life maintenance jobs ticked off - address changes, finding permanent places for things to live.
I'm not going to count defrosting the fridge and the resulting laundry :rotfl:‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Hi everyone, my decluttering has stalled due to RL but I've been keeping an eye on how well everyone is doing and am trying to get motivated again. So I have finally thrown out a pair of boots that were on the landing for about a month along with an old cat scratching post that was outside the back door - we've had a new one for 3 weeks!; I've also emptied 3 bottles of cough medicine that were well past their use by date and recycled the bottles.
