I've just tidied up by the stove too choille :) Kindling into spare coal bucket, firelighters into kindling basket, firelighter basked cleaned out to use in utility room. Two huge logs back to garage to be split as they don't fit in the stove, small log rack out to garage as I don't really use it, just the basket at the moment.

Gararge and office both in need of a major clearout.

Happy birthday whmf00001 :bdaycake: Enjoy your celebratory tea :)

Mrs SD, it's really dragged on, hasn't it? Poor you. Hope you're back to health and zinginess soon.

I'm trying to declutter a piece of homework for a training course, which is of course why I'm on here catching up with everyone. :rotfl:

    Happy Birthday whmf00001

I haven't been able to do much in the way of decluttering .Its a bit harder with DD and Dsil staying as every spare bit of space is filled with their belongings.
I did however throw away a frying pan that had a loose handle and i am trying to organise food cupboards etc so i can use up what i have.:)

    Hello all,
Lots of good stuff in this thread.

My situation: I've always found clutter very distracting and am most comfortable in very tidy environments (some would say "sparse" or even "austere").

My go to declutter method is the well known KonMari method which I have used for years and find highly effective.

My family and I have moved into a new (larger) place about 6 months ago but the clutter has slowly built up since then (a toddler and a pregnant wife don't leave much time for organizing :D )

My mum is coming to stay for a week and has offered to help do a deep purge and reorganization on the house so I have jumped at this opportunity.

I will post in this thread when I am able but I will mainly be keeping an eye on other people's progress for motivation! :T

A tip from me: The more things you own the more things there are to become out of place and cause mess. Rather than constantly putting things away and "reorganizing" I have found myself that the most efficient method is just to get rid of stuff. (This may seem obvious but I'm surprised by how often it is overlooked.) I've also noticed that clutter attracts clutter. Areas that are nice and tidy and free of junk will make you want to keep them that way.

Anyway, that's it from me, keep up the good work everyone, you're all doing great :T

Office done today. Lots of paperwork filed, lots of paper recycled, and I'm working my way through the rechargeable batteries either charging them or putting them in the recycling depending on what the battery charger suggests!

I have no idea how I manage to generate so much rubbish (although given how much arrived with the post and went straight in the bin, that might have something to do with it!).
  • 1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
    5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
    6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE

Tuesday has been a wet & windy day - horrible in fact :( Helped DSis pack her cases for Germany. She has her CPAP machine & the accompanying letter that tells the airline NOT to put it in the hold. Mini cab arrived 10 mins early which was a bonus as she was flying with ScamAir - you have to weigh & tag your own hold luggage  Just received a message from DB that they are home :T. DSisiL & the boys have been in bed for hours :D
Last night we had Chinese delivered which meant DSis had a meal before she left today & DH & I had dinner. I have pottered about today - read some magazines, stripped DSis’s bed, filled in some competition entries & Done a bit of tidying. DH has resumed tidying his office plus painted another section of the garage floor.

716 - 730 Glass bottle, 3 magazines, newspaper, small bag of cardboard, 6 plastic lids, 3 plastic takeaway boxes - Recycled
731 - 732 Large bag of DH rubbish, small bag of DSis rubbish - Binned
733 - 735 Net curtain wire, Pom-pom & Ladies vest (from DSis) - to CS

Well Done villagelife :T waste not, want not :D

Happy Birthday whmf00001 :bdaycake: :bdaycake: - 75 years young :rotfl: The Hobbit Book sounds beautiful - lucky chap :D

Every single item out is a win - so Well Done choille :T - safety first :A

greenbee, another ‘safety first’ declutterer - Well Done :T Gold Star ⭐️ for clearing/sorting the office :T

Cherryfudge - not too sure that the tablets have worked - I only have 2 doses left & still have a slight toothache & still feel slightly nauseous :( I am sure you decluttered the homework :rotfl:

Well Done never too old :T I take it the frying pan went straight into the bin :rotfl: not via DD & Dsil’s heads :rotfl:

Well Done Barny1979 :T winging your way to 350 :T

:hello: no logo & welcome to the ‘Decluttering Bandwagon’. Can I ‘borrow’ your mum when she has finished helping you :rotfl: I am sure that there are several of us who would like to borrow your mum :rotfl: maybe we can set up a rota :rotfl::rotfl:
By the way, thanks for the tip :T

Like you say it is obvious, but I know I get bogged down in so much clutter that I just get brain freeze :rotfl: MK was too intense for me :rotfl: although I have been using her folding methods :D. Look forward to hearing from you ;)

See you later my fellow declutterers
