  • Just decluttered another 11 items so think my total is at 95. I've got items to sell too but can't seem to summon up the energy to list them atm.

I need to read through the thread to try and get motivated :)

Another seven items - various bits from the fridge and an assortment of weeds from the garden. The weeds count as one thing because gardening is fun for me. Cleaning the fridge counts as six things because that sort of decluttering is work. I did feel a sense of achievement, though.

I'll just update my signature before I get to bed.

Keep up the good work everyone!

  • Good morning.

It's such a beautiful day here and I long to spend the day outside but I planned to spend the day decluttering again and I'm going to do it. I have four rooms which need a lot of focus. My DS's room is . I'm going to spend at least an hour in there. It needs more but until we can return the bedrooms back to normal it's a bit awkward. It does look like the barking dog issue is sorted so hopefully soon.

The spare room and front room are horrendous and horrible. The rest of the day will be spent in one of these. Most likely the front room. The other will need to be done on another day this week. The final bad area is the cellar. I'm going to aim to clear the steps and then work through the actual room.

Right ho, I must get on. It's going to be a busy day. Back later to report in.

    142 skateboard
    143 small hand brush

You continue to be a source of inspiration to me Parsnip - I'm much more likely to do some decluttering on my day off if I see one of your posts first! Do allow yourself a bit of sunshine, though. You've earned it, it's good for you and we should enjoy it while it's there!

Aww thanks cherryfudge. The nice thing about this thread is being inspired by others. I wouldn't get anywhere without it.

I'm still digging my way through DS's room. so far I've thrown three bin bags of carp, got more stuff for charity and cleared a path to the window.

I haven't ventured under the bed yet. I'm scared too.:rotfl:

Going to start again now I've eaten. I will be back.

Gosh Parsniphead your post made me laugh and I nearly spilt my coffee !! How high is the bed ? I now have visions of you tunneling :rotfl:.
I have found 4 baby books in good condition, that have been through 2 generations ( DD is mid 30's now  ) so they are in the cs bag.
This afternoon, as the weather is lovely, I decided to declutter a very large bush in the garden and half a forest it seems. ( not really but that's how much work I feel I've done :rotfl:. ) Only downside is that I now have an huge bag of garden waste to dispose of . Oh well baby steps :D.
Happy decluttering all. Keep up the good work :T.

  • Talking of venturing beneath beds - I've been under mine today ;)

When we bought this house last year we decided to treat ourselves to a superking size bed, after many years of sleeping on a beautiful, but highly uncomfortable antique 4'6 which has been relegated to the guest room. The divan base we purchased has the 'ottoman' style lift up storage which whilst the house has undergone a ton of building work has been home to my cushion and butterfly collections :p

Having not looked at these since we repatriated everything from storage last August, I thought it was time to take a look/see what could go.

Ok, so I counted thirty-five (yep, 35) cushions. Blimey! (Oh, and that's as well as the twenty-five currently in use throughout the finished parts of the house, lol!)

So, I've earmarked six to sell and two to give away to someone that's always admired them....well, it's a start! Many of these we've had for years, a lot were made by me and some have been re-covered umpteen times using my fabric remnants collected over twenty-odd years. Am struggling to part with many more, tbh.....

In other news, I also consigned to the skip a vintage wardrobe inner section that the previous owners had incorporated into a large bank of modern - and hideously ugly - wardrobes that we just removed. The vintage part - complete with attached labels for shirts, ties, cufflinks etc - could have been of interest to someone had they not butchered it beyond saving :(

Went through all the bedding yesterday and sorted 5 pillowcases, 1 quilt and 2 heavy blankets to go to cs. Towels are ready to take to Celia Hammond shop. I used to buy 8 - 10 2 litre bottles of sparkling water a week (25p Sainsbury's basics), but after buying activated charcoal I'm not drinking nearly as much. I've got 2 bottles this week as I need more activated charcoal - on order - for upstairs.
