Mrs SD, so glad you have re-found your decluttering mojo and are back to sending things out of the door. I haven't started on the emails yet as there is so much physical clutter to go which I feel is more important at the moment.

Friend helped me to get more books off the higher shelves. 7 are ready to go and I'm reading another which will go when I've finished.

3 old pens which no longer work binned. I'd decided to keep them for some reason when doing the first major declutter. Odd how we hang onto completely useless items even though we know we'll never use them again.

I did take part in a study on hoarding a couple of years back. It was very interesting. It is supposed to be linked to OCD and anxiety disorders, but I think there are supposed to be quite complex reasons for it. There certainly seem to be a lot of things that trigger it. From what I have read it is supposed to be one of those most difficult compulsions to treat and has a high relapse rate. I have enjoyed some of those hoarding TV programmes where they cure the person, but I would really be interested to see how many of those people are still cured 5 years after.

That is interesting. Mine started when my mother died & I got nothing of hers - I think that is what caused mine.

amycool: I may steal your idea for storing tea towels! We have loads but nowhere to store them. does anyone else have any good ideas, other than throw them into a random draw wherever they will fit?

    chupachups4: your ebaying is inspiring!

I have 5 items packaged up and ready to post, sold over the weekend. I also have a load of items which are £10 plus, but was waiting for a free listing weekend... but part of me thinks to just list them now, pay full comission and just get rid?!

Thank you for the lovely welcome!

DD was really unwell all night so definitely won't be getting much done today!

I learnt to crochet granny squares through YouTube and most of my knitting skills. Can't seem to learn from a book.

Speaking of which, knitted a few more rows on the cushion I'm making. It started life as a 1940s sweater but halfway through I couldn't face it (tiny needles) and I had gone off the design so I'm stocking stitching it into a cushion. Will use up some stuffing. I still have a large drawer full of yarn but I've already made 2 blankets.

I love having the tea towels in a shoe box! I can see them all easily and because they're rotated as I wash them they don't go musty. Just have to keep putting them away properly and not lobbing them in the general direction.

Last night my OH, who is definitely not a declutterer, said how nice it is to have some clear surfaces. I really find it motivates me to wash things up straight away and put things away.

*123-126 cuddly toysx4 sent to charity for tombolas
    *127 plastic wrappings-recycling
*128 birthday present over to my mums(technically 3 presents, been able to tidy away more things with the
    space made :)

    Neutral items sent out=25

Now have a nice clear space on kitchen worktop. DD will be shocked when she comes back from uni as this space is normally always cluttered

  • Not much, but wanted to keep the momentum going, so put a couple of items out with the rubbish:

123 old tub of handcream (smelt a bit weird!)
124 showerhead (replaced MONTHS ago, and sitting around "just in case")

OH not working next weekend, so intending to fit in a serious job, possibly the attic. Putting it on here to hold myself to it!

  • Completely lost: thank you. I don't sell much on ebay. I live in France and it doesn't seem to be the first place where people watch for clothing. I sell on vinted.

^Ah I just assumed it was ebay, I forget there are other sales sites :)

Happy Kitties: what are neutral items, if you don't mind me asking?
  • CompletelyLost my neutral items are charity items. Involved with a couple of charities and when I see items cheap then I get them ready for a fundraising auction or tombola.
They're not really clutter as such as they are a short term item so count them in a different total but they have been taking over room needed for my medical stuff recently so some bits have been shipped out. (Basically picked up some fab bargains before Christmas but storage a problem for me when I go overboard!!!)

  • Afternoon all

Gifted my old kettle to my dd to use in her house whilst the builders are in as they were going to buy a cheap one so i decluttered and she saved money :T Started to sort through some recipe cards and recycled the ones we didn't like and obviously kept the ones we did.
I have a corner kitchen cupboard which i would like one of the smart racking systems in but it currently contains some of my small electrical appliances. One of these being a jam maker which i havent actually used in years but i loved it.Things like this i need to be brave and either sell or take to charity.:rotfl:
