Do you want clock changes or not?

My kids ignore the time change and get by fine. Personally I think it's daft these days to change the clocks since so few of us rely on daylight for work, and those that do can ignore the clock numbers anyway. It just causes confusion (for people changing clocks and for those trying to sync up with other time zones).
If we didn't have daylight saving now, can anyone make a good case to introduce it?0 -

That is one key reason why we have daylight saving in summer. And it would be crazy not to have it for the above reason.0 -
I like the changes, I like the fact that it is light later in the summer when we can actually take advantage of the extra daylight in the garden, and I do not want it to get light even lighter in the winter, so I like things the way they are.
I live in the south btw.
And at long last we do not have to listen to a word those idiots in Brussels say. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Just remember this is all a pointless delusion. Fiddling with the clock does NOT produce more sunlight.
It does but either at expense of morning in evening or vice versa. The question is whether people prefer lighter evening or not.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -

Just stick with permanent GMT and let organisations and individuals run their own affairs as best suits them.
That is very difficult to do, timings need to be coordinated across industries, they need to be able to interact. The fact is we live our lives by the clock these days, we don't go by dawn and dusk timings.
Farmers go by dawn and dusk due to the fact animals do not yet use clocks, but any office/factory based trade has to use clocks. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

The USA and other countries mange, why can't we? As one poster pointed out, one state in the usa has two time zones therefore Scotland can have whatever time they want and us in the south have our BST.0 -
If we didn’t move to BST in summer it would get light at 3am and dark at 8pm from May to July. That would be a crazy waste of daylight
What's crazy is that you cannot see that it makes no difference whatsoever to the amount of daylight. It's just a number on a clockface - the sun will rise and set at the same "time" regardless, and people are free to use the light as they choose.
It's just unbelievable that anyone still believes there is any "saving" to be made.
It's just a superstition, like believing in Smart Meters or Father Christmas. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Btw, this changing of clocks story really takes off around the times clocks move but nothing has been done or will be done IMO. I think many years ago they did try it once but that was it as too dark in the north day time.0

Scotland can go for their own times zone as no big deal.
Yes, i live in the south/London and yes, I don't care about those up norht when it comes to having longer daylight hours where we live.
Why should it be only Scotland that can have it's own time?
Why even should Scotland all be on the same time?
I think we should all go back to the good old days pre mid-19th century, when each town had its own local time.
