If a customer is seen to be submitting multiple complaints can a bank or credit company terminate the service?

Yes of course they can. A banking relationship is a commercial arrangement. Banks lose money on current accounts and hope you buy something else to help them make a profit.
Why would they continue something which is costing them more time and money to resolve if they conclude the person is impossible to please?0 -
And if you feel that the service you receive is so poor that you need to make multiple complaints why would you want to maintain a relationship with them rather than move your business to another provider?0
-
I previously had an account closed many years back for this very reason. Even though the bank were completely at fault and the complaint justified0
-
Yes they do Close accounts for this reason one usually gets a letter about 'our banking relationship has broken down...'0

They/You can close the account at any time without giving a reason.
You will receive a generic letter as the poster above says.
I'm sure they've done you a favour if you have cause for several complaints - they are clearly not meeting your expectations.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
Judging by your previous posts you are a serial complainer, and will probably be unhappy with any bank.
They are entitled to close the account, and will be happy to not have to deal with you again.
Looking on the bright side it will give you a further opportunity to complain, so every cloud....0 -
Possibly reached the total amount of compo. they are prepared to fork out to a serial complainer?0

Worth noting they CAN'T close/threaten to close because you've gone to the Ombudsman or threatened to.
However they can pluck other things out of thin air and quote things like banking relationship is not continuing for current accounts.
For credit cards it can be a nice and simple "ongoing risk review" which is very difficult to challenge. I'm actually surprised I've not had a "review" from one of my cards yet (won at the Ombudsman recently)0 -

They are generally entitled to say that if you dislike their service so much it’s better if you take your business elsewhere.
You need to remember, it’s a rare case where you get to insist that a company does business with you.0
