Can I be told to come in early?

@trailingspace he’s my manager/boss/line boss/team leader etc whatever you want to call it. But he doesn’t have the power to send people home early.
I don’t understand your thinking. I was fully prepared to go to work at my usual time and go home at my usual time, so why make stupid comments?0 -
^everyone on the team is contracted to work 7:15 a day, but my other time members only have to work until 4:30 and 5pm on a rota system. They can also have longer/shorter lunch breaks, as long as they clock up 7:15 mins for the day. They just need to be in the office at 9am. As they do a different role to me, their rules don’t apply.0

^the rota system is also for a person each per 4:30 and 5pm. Most of the team leave at 4.0

But you're not most people, I can see that.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
You really are over thinking all this.0

@trailingspouse he can be clearer in what he wants me to do and what he is offering. And “nice” depends if you want what’s being offered - and clearly I don’t.0

You say you don’t understand when he says he can send you home early.
He is expecting you to do your full hours. He is basically saying I want to send you home early. You need to come in early to be able to do this. Many staff will want to go early.
I don’t know how your complaining to come in slightly earlier to finish earlier. If you are saying you like your bed then go to bed earlier to be able to wake up earlier.Mortgage free wannabe

The op is taking a lot of flack but to be honest I have some sympathies, I too love my sleep and wouldn't appreciate my boss demanding I start an hour earlier either!
A lot of nice companies would allow their employees to leave early on Christmas Eve without expecting them to make up the time.0 -

But as the op says her boss can't vary the hours so he's done the only thing he can to let people off early. Ask them to come in early.0 -
@Sncjw and @unforseen he said he wanted me to “leave sometime around 3”. So going into work at 7 and going home at 3 isn’t getting being sent home early - it’s my usual work hours.
Waking up early to be miserable all day, to go home and be tired but not wanting to nap - how is that being nice?0
