  • Just got a 20% discount on my BG HomeCare 2 just by giving them a quick call, saving almost £80 a year.

I've been happy with them over the years so would rather stay with them than move elsewhere and risk bad service.

I've got a carpy Glow Worm combi that keeps breaking down so I reckon I've had my money's worth in repairs so far.

I have just had a nightmare with 247 home rescue who seem to be complete crooks and refused to repair my boiler saying it was beyond economic repair, and charging me £335 for a third party to come fix it.

Can people please recommend a company that WILL repair an older boiler on a cover plan? It seems the cheap companies basically exclude repairs in their terms and conditions and are just shysters

Exactly my reason for staying with BG. They're doing HomeCare 2 from £14-odd per month for new customers, depending on the age of your boiler of course.

Like I said above, I've had expensive repairs done to my old boiler. Got mine down to £23 a month from £28. Well worth the extra and the peace of mind. Never had any problems with them.
  • Hi Folks,

Does anyone have any experience of this company?
Website seems to make sensible claims, but it is their website!

Very mixed reviews on Trustpilot but can Trustpilot be trusted??

Looks good value for a £50 excess to cover everything including pestilence!!!

    Any advice welcome.

    Thanks

Only Trustpilot mention them and their Facebook page hasn't changed since May.
So, I'm going with British Gas.
    Maybe next year?
  • We recently signed up for ScottishPower's Boliercare Plus scheme

When we received their welcome letter there were a number of issue:

    1) Our address was wrong on the letter
    2) The letter mentioned a "supply address" which we nev er heard - a flat somewhere in London
    3) The start of the policy was over 5 weeks away.

When trying to phone the company we managed to speak to a person after 30 mins of waiting,

He was unable to find our details and asked us to call back to talk to someone else.

Needless to say we have cancelled the policy.

    Epic fail!.

  • I have had a Homecare agreement for years and ring them every year on renewal to 'discuss' why they have hiked the charge so much. Every year they are able to discount the price and ask if I want to pay by DD - I decline and repeat next year. One year discount took me to less than year before and several years they matched previous year. So haggle!
  • Had a shock this morning when I received an email from British Gas about my basic homecare renewal. £329.44  This equated to a 13.42% increase and I've never made a claim.

After some consideration I phoned them ready to cancel the renewal, instead I accepted a 22% discount of the renewal which makes it cheaper than last years contract:j

I know they've had some bad press But in this case British gas have come up trumps.

Anyone have any experience with www.bestpricefs.co.uk

They offer home emergency for £90 a year with no call out fees etc. Seems a bit too good to be true

Is anyone other than British Gas offering boiler, heating, plumbing and electrical cover? On uswitch they are the only option that comes up - and I am already with British Gas (but paying double the quotes on uswitch as a 'loyal' customer).

I am no good at haggling but have managed to reduce some of my other outgoings by phoning my provider and telling them about specific better deals I could get from their competitors, resulting in a better offer from them.

With this, I can't challenge British Gas in a similar way if there aren't any competitors out there for this type of cover - and there is nowhere else for me to switch to either.

My only other option is to get home emergency cover added on my home insurance which isn't as comprehensive - I would prefer to pay more (within reason) to have a more comprehensive cover but just think British Gas are taking the mickey now.
