Depends, the former employer might know the best way. Depends if they are physical certificates or lodged with a particular broker.
Also helps if the company is very large, if its a tiny share only traded some places then theres specific info required.

Really not a fan of these cryptic questions, people pin their cards so close to their chest I've no idea

Quite a few UK brokers will sell USA shares for you, Halifax is one and would maybe discuss it with you

Sorry it wasn't meant to be cryptic just a straightforward question from someone who doesn't deal in shares at all. Forget it and I'll sort it myself..

Not sure there's any need to be so touchy - I think the point being made, albeit a bit grumpily perhaps, was that what you might consider to be a straightforward question isn't as simple as you may have thought!

There are plenty of folk on here who can and do offer good advice and guidance, but it does need enough information to go on, so if you share more details of where and in what form you're holding which shares then people will be able to make informed recommendations, which will differ according to whether you're, say, owning paper certificates versus a holding being managed by a US broker in a nominee account. Likewise, shares in mainstream companies listed on one of the major exchanges will be easier to deal with than obscure players....

In plane (;)) English, you still have shares in FlyBe Group, but they're now worth a tiny fraction of what they were until the recent past, so it wasn't a very good investment:

Hi, I joined trading212 while they were doing the free shares referral offer. This platform doesn't feature in the MSE article. Does anyone know if this is a good platform to stick with? I'm just dabbling with a small amount of my savings. I like the control.

    Thanks!

I'd recommend plugging your anticipated investment activity into various comparison sites and establishing which of the mainstream platforms fits your needs best, although these really just compare costs:
