Have checked the biggest UK online brokers? Your papers should be dematerialized and than you could sell them through an online platform. Online brokers are generally cheaper than proper phone dealers...
Wrong thread perhaps...??"If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

My mother holds some European shares in a Charles Stanley exec only account (not online). She would like to transfer some into an online account held in my name but is finding it difficult to get a clear answer of the costs involved. The broker has stated costs to sell including Euroclear costs and commission. However I understood a transfer is not a sale? Does anyone have knowledge of what costs are likely to be involved?
Many thanks0 -
I have checked Hargreaves Lansdown's FUNDSMITH EQUITY CLASS I - ACCUMULATION (GBP) fund and found that they're doing quite well.
Checked it a day later again and seen that even the past performance (annual return) is changing on a daily basis - which I assume, shouldn't. Can anyone explain it?

The past performance is reported over different periods each day, so of course it'll change! Why would you expect the performance for the year to 9 April 2020 to be identical to the year to 6 April 2020? And the same principle applies to all other dates....richter said:I have checked Hargreaves Lansdown's FUNDSMITH EQUITY CLASS I - ACCUMULATION (GBP) fund and found that they're doing quite well.

You obviously didn't understand my point about the same principle applying to the other dates: why would you expect the performance for the year to 9 April 2016 to be identical to the year to 6 April 2016? They're different periods, obviously with a substantial overlap, but clearly not identical, so performance will inevitably be different....richter said:
sorry, but I'm talking about past performance - year 15/16 - 16/17 and so on...eskbanker said:

I think richter was thinking in terms of physical years or possibly tax years, hence the 15/16 etc reference.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

That style of data presentation is available from various other sources, such as https://www.fundsmith.co.uk/fund-factsheet, if that's what you prefer, but the HL format does clearly indicate the effective dates immediately above the percentages.richter said:
that's correct - that would make more sense to me.cloud_dog said:I think richter was thinking in terms of physical years or possibly tax years, hence the 15/16 etc reference.1 -
I have some shares that have devolved from the original "Tell Sid" Gas share issue back in the dark ages. For various reasons involving working overseas and some serious health issues I am only now trying to sort this situation out.I've been offered the chance to sell my shares by ProSearch but they seem to want a great deal of money for so doing. My immediate questions are:1) I know of National Grid and Shell shares that come from my originals. Who else?2) Initially I just need to change my contact details with the registrars. Does doing so oblige me to use them to sell the shares thereafter?3) Once I have changed the contact info on the shares can I sell them elsewhere than via ProSearch?0
