Any ideas when this will happen please?

I thought this myself but it just doesn't seem to add up. If you're paying ~£12 for selling then ~£12 for buying plus stamp duty@0.5%, plus the share price spread, it's probably just as well to pay the £35 and save the hastle.

Any other thoughts?

Or sell them close the account and buy them through a company that does not charge fees for not causing them any work.

Good advice - assuming there is no great price move it should work out fairly price neutral exercise. Find yourself a 'proper' broker who wont dig the arm in. I use Interactive Brokers and Barx both of which id recommend.

Sounds like a contradiction, foreign stocks are not for beginners or best dealt in small amounts. A fund would work better. Is there any reason not to use a usa broker, I dont know

I just thought it would be simpler if i had access to a UK broker (so i could phone up and do it over the phone) rather than a US broker.

But if it's cheap for me to have a US broker then i will do what you suggest.

Do you have a recommendation for a brokerage i could get in contact with please in the US?

I have had mutual funds in the past, but it's not for me anymore (plans have changed).
