    Good morning,

    Brilliant bargains, Valli.

    Today's list looks something like:
    Reduce / clear ironing pile
Finish wrapping the last couple of presents. Not too onerous as they are only bottles to be put in bags. DD has done the rest of the wrapping.
Put dinner in the sc. I've lost count how many times I have written that in the past couple of weeks. It's been a life saver.
Make some mince pies and maybe even some cakes. The troops are complaining about an empty tin...
More jobs that I can't quite remember.

Yesterday I picked a bucket of lovely greenery from the garden, and I have [STRIKE]shoved it [/STRIKE]artistically arranged it indoors. I really could do with Narc0 living nearby, to lend her talents!

    Off to demolish Mount Ironmore.

Now I remember the other jobs:
Make 2x soup with some celery and carrots. I picked the celery yesterday from the trugs in the garden - not something I've ever grown before, so was pretty chuffed.
Play around with the wreath in the hope that it will live to fight another year on the front door.

I also did a Slinky weigh in. Nowhere as I had - over optimistically - hoped last January, but 6lb down, so I guess the right direction.
H2H - still very much a hovel. There was a time in the summer when I thought that we were making real progress, but DH has since found more treasures and also started to demolish the spare room. The battle continues.
Scrimpers - I had good progress and also set backs, but at least I know where the money drains to. Definitely could do better, but at least my mind is thinking the right way after 5 years of slavishly repeating the mse mantras.

Coffee then soup making, and beef casserole into the sc.

    Just a reminder
The annual Flylady New Year Ironing Challenge"]

The aim is to have an empty ironing basket by New Year's Eve.

    Any Takers?

    Wrapped/bagged another present (four gifts)
    Put a washload on
made dumplings and turned up SC to high - I'm hoping the meat is a tender as something really really tender lol
Brought blue bin back into back garden (emptied Thursday but has to come through a locked gate)
Put rotting stuff in compost bin
Washed up, dried some. Have washed salt and pepper grinders so the need a really good air dry. They are sitting on a radiator.
    Christmas boxes taken upstairs.
Really need to clean kitchen as it is completely foul.
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

  • Morning all

Gently tidying up the remains of last nights family get together. Feeling slightly delicate, probably not helped by the fact that I didnt really eat much all day yesterday (and I did have a few glasses of gin last night).

Have done present swapping and opening with DS2s girlfriend as she is away for Christmas (we still have more than enough presents to open)! Relaxing day in front of telly and fire I think, just need to call and see my parents later.

23rd December, can you believe it ladies? x

Oooh and binned my ironing basket years ago - too much temptation to leave stuff in there - but I do have four or five things to iron, and I should really put a load in.

23rd December indeed, very excited now.
Hoovering done, recycling out, prepped a couple of games to play, tried to phone a relative, left a message.

Valli - ironing basket is empty now, today's washing may fill it again, so I'll try to get it out of the way tomorrow.

Just waiting for DD and her DH to pop by, and my DH has said he's coming home now by lunchtime, so I'm hoping for a relaxing afternoon, and a dog walk if it ever stops raining. And maybe the carol concert, who knows?
Spend less now, work less later.

Back in For the Christmas holidays

Posted a thank you for my old friends on the Facebook group sending thanks and love to you all

We’ve done some rearranging this week so I now have drawers in my kitchen. It’s part of the old living room unit added in so totally doesn’t match but it’s about function

I’m going to spend the day deciding what’s going where so I don’t have to have everything rammed on the top of shelves etc

I’ve even thrown some things out

Off work for a few days so my only chance to reorganise the house and make the changes we need
One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • I don't have an ironing basket. I don't iron.
I do have an iron & and ironing board, it's only ever used to iron curtains after I've made them and before I hang them.

This afternoon (during the nap time currently underway) I'm going to do a bit of cellar sorting which should make the dining room feel a bit less cluttered - I've given up on the living room having a feeling of clutterless calm due to the tree, presents, cards, decorations and toys. I can't wait for the decorations to come down!

So... need to crack on. Catch up with your all later.

    Wish.

I too don't have an ironing basket. I hang everything in the wardrobe and decide if it really needs ironing by the time I wear it (my eyesight is poor so the answer's usually no.:rotfl: )

I have done very little today but the OH has been busy and sorted out 2 ROD; the dining room is ready for Xmas :j and what was the playroom which was abandoned long ago is now a sewing room.:j

I seemed to have missed more than a week, sorry

It has been a horrid time in the dance family.
Dancepops is now out of hospital
Dancegran nearly went in to hospital yesterday. She was hysterical.
We had lots of official visits and meetings

On the up side we have had emergency furniture shift around to make a safer environment (living room). I love it the room seems to have doubled in size.
We have got rid of the computer chair and desk.
I have a lot of sorting to do but room is liveable at the moment. All presents wrapped and cards sent. Some presents got swashed in a meltdown earlier in the week.

I will join the ironing challenge.

Thank you for the threads x

Ds1 train home has been cancelled but he has managed to catch one an hour later so I off to the city station to collect him.
  • I have written my list of meal prep items for tomorrow and a plan of what needs to happen when, with regard to Christmas Dinner. I will not spend all afternoon in the kitchen. I will trust the list!

I'm truly bad news... I went down into the cellar earlier to tidy up, it seems we have active woodworm (arghhhhhhh) hardly surprising as we also have a damp issue in the front of the house. Hopefully we won't fall through the floor over the next week, but we will have to get it dealt with in the new year (January the 2nd I hope!) it should mean a massive sort out of the stuff down there, I'm seeing a skip in my future (I hope!) but in my head it also means being invaded by men in hazmat suits and having to move out while the entire floor of the upstairs is replaced.

I intend, at some point, to sit down and write a list of chores to do every month and a list of rooms to focus on each month before January starts. It started off quite well this year, but went by the way side a bit, need to refocus. I want to decluttering a lot again this year and having to clear the cellar out, and probably the living room and dining room too will really help that.

    Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone.
