todays news. bank accounts all ended in zero so no pay a days today.
ombudsman wrote to say they have written to banks etc and are awaiting there reply.
tax credits wrote to say we no longer get tax credits and we owe them 100 pounds. I rang to find out if this is due to annual review or because kids are now off school and have finished at childminders so im not paying childcare over 6 week holidays. (i am but its not a registered provider so doesnt count for my claim.)
I didnt get a straight answer but am hopeful some form of payment will restart in sept when my childcare goes back up to 100 per week. I half expected it as the afterschool club has ceased trading (school gave them notice) and school are running it themselves from sept. the summer holidays therefore the kids are not in any official childcare so I cant have an ongoing claim as such. they reckon i will just about keep my claim open as opposed to having to stop it completely and claim UC instead from Sept but Ill wait and see. I love that I get tax credits (30 per week) but it drives me mad that even though I could forecast earnings/childcare costs in March inc knowing school was taking over it still has to go through umpteen changes and stops and starts. I do feel for anyone who works at DWP. Its far too complicated really. From what the advisor said the letter today may nit even be the one saying my childcare has ended and a further award change may be pending. Last weekends wages now spoken for as opposed to going towards the 2 passports I was hoping to buy. Ah well at least Ive got that money due and am not panicking like other people who are probably getting letters like this.

new day new letter. Im sure it will change again when childcare starts again in sept but today i have been informed I no longer owe tax credits 100 pounds but instead will get a payment of 40 pounds next week then 20 pounds in sept. Presumably then it stops until the next development...
it means one of the hoped for passports fom my shifts last weekend is back on.
I also spent a mammoth amount of money today and emptied the clothes pot on kids school shoes. A person I know who works at a well known shop had staff discounts left that expired today. three pairs of school shoes for price of two. Very much appreciated and very useful -a box of thankyou chocs are due I think.

very good news. it saved me a fortune. Mostly done for uniforms now I think. will have a look a look at my list later but i reckon i can buy name tags and clothing thats left for under 100. The schools pretty good- they have a specific pe top but siblings are all in the same colour to hand it down. jumpers and cardigans and polo shirts are branded but they dont mind kids wearing plain. A good half of the pupils were plain so they dont stand out. The eldest will have a branded one but youngest are going in reception so have ones from sainsburys 25% off sales. No point paying 16 a cardi for it to go in water, paint and the sand shed....

in other news the d debit went out today for the debt in currentky focusing on so i now owe less than i did yesterday. yayyy

It seemed closed so checked the garden just in case. hosepipe running at full pelt. aaarrrgh. I left for work at 2.30 yesterday and kids were inside when i left. its anytime from then to now. I dread to think what the next water bill will say. On a meter......... I wish I had gone in the garden for some reason when i got home last night :(

  • so the financial ombusdman have investigated my complaint. long story short is they cant help. my bank has shown they arent to blame and the ombudsman doesnt investigate help to save -as they are hmrc, who appear as i first thought to be the ones at fault. Thats the simplified version. Im back to square one. Whilst its important to me to get my 200 back I have given up that it will ever happen.
My worry though is that this could happen to someone who has saved 50 a month into help to save for the full 4 years then looses there money. Slim chance I know but if its happened to me and theres no one to answer to or fix it I fear for everyone else and there life savings. Sorry to be a pessimist as I know a couple of you reading use the help to save scheme.
I will continue. I will ring help to save again on monday to give them one last chance then I will contact my MP perhaps as they are government people and its a goverment scheme. They might know what to do.
