Can't be bothered to read through the thread, sorry. Its Friday, I shouldn't be geeking about anyway...

But in response to the original question, for what its worth, just wanted to say Yes I would. Practically a selling point to me.

I would definatly buy a house next to a cemetery, I used to rent for a year next to one (it was only a few feet of garden and a wall away).
It was so peaceful, also you are not overlooked and its unlikely to be built on.
I DO beleive in ghosts, but I never had any trouble at all.HTH.

    Thanks!! :D:D:D
  • Thank you for all the responses, and the jokes!

I actually checked with a estate agents and its actually a crematorium cemetery and it is very well kept.

I still won't be going ahead with the property because i can see the headstones from the window. However i won't run a mile now if a property is a few roads from a cemetery like i did before, i suppose it would be very peaceful.

Im sure i'll have another scenario for you all next week.
Well im back to house hunting, have a good weekend.

We're pretty close to a cemetery, the church is just behind us, so the graveyard isnt in full view.

But what we DID do, before buying, was to visit the grounds of the church & walk around the graves, early one evening, to see if we got any bad 'feeling's.'

Some places sometimes don't feel 'right', but quite opposite for us, there were no bad vibes from the occupants & some long term residents, too. So if there was anyone there, that didn't want us moving nearby, think they'd have let us know that night!!

Think about it again, might be more going for it than you thought!

Thank gosh you said that, I was starting to feel like l was odd for being terrified at the thought!

Couldnt think of anything worse than opening a window onto a cemetary (would be joint first place with living next to a landfill)
  • Whyever not? Your neighbours won't be noisy, dead folk have this habit of staying dead. If you get ghosts, they aren't likely to wish you any harm, if they scare you then tell them so.

I would buy next to a cemetery with no qualms whatsoever.

I'm with you. I know some of them are well looked after etc etc...but its definitely not for me. Especially at night. And seeing people going in to tend to graves etc, attend funerals....no thanks!
