Would you a buy a house next to a cemetary?

Options
Hi Guys,

Last week a posted thread about potentially buying a house near a railway.

Today i viewed a really nice house, good value for money, decent rooms sizes in a central location etc ...but the only thing is..... Its next to a cemetery!

As soon as i looked out the master bedroom window i could see the graves about 70ft away, that immediately put me off, i cant wake up every morning and think of death.

Just wanted to know, what your thoughts were.

Would you buy a house next to a cemetery? do you think this would affect the resale of the house?

  • I would, I live opposite a Church and graveyard now, no problem at all for me. Not sure about resale value though?

At least you know they won't build there!!

I wouldn't have a problem at all. Far better than looking into someone elses windows!

Are you getting a die-to-let mortgage?

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided

#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now

#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing

    Quiet neighbours. Deathly.

But seriously why not - must be better than a railway line,

p.s. don't get any George Romero films out on dvd.
  • I would most definately say 'yes'. I lived right next to a cemetary for several years, and I can honestly say they were the best neighbours I have ever had! Go for it!
  • s'pose it depends what it looks like. might sound silly but the cemetery's in my area are council run, are very well kept and are peaceful places.......dont know how Id feel if I had to live near one that resembled the set of a Hammer Horror film
