Personally it wouldn't bother me, but some serious considerations - is it a busy cemetery that's in regular use? If so you may find that this has traffic implications and may make it harder to drive/park (being stuck behind a slow moving cortege when you want to pull into your driveway is no fun!). Is it well-maintained with decent security? Unfortunately some people do like do desecrate graves, and the carparks can be a haven for drug dealers & prostitutes. On the other hand, you'll have a fairly quiet neighbour, and there are restrictions on what can be done with the land (exhumation orders are few & far between) so it's unlikely that blocks of flats will be springing up around you. Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
I would actually pay more to live next to a cemetery.
Apart from the fact that they are less noisy than living neighbours, I really do love to walk around them. Look at the tombstones and the plants and trees and wildlife....
Nothing I like more (well, ok, there are lots of things I like more) than to walk around a quiet country graveyard. I come out soothed, relaxed, content and happy. Perhaps its the knowledge that at the end, this is not so bad. At least you wont be worrying about anything anymore.
I think graveyards are fantastic places. We should have more of them!Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0 -
I agree, Jonewer! Most cemetaries are beautiful, well-kept places and I think they are very peaceful places where you can go and reflect on your own life. I would love to live next to one. I love the spookiness of them at night too!0

Graveyards next to a church can be very joyful places. Weddings, christenings and happy celebrations like those at christmas - you'll see far more of that than you will the occasional funeral.
That's why I said I'd be happy with a church graveyard rather than a municipal cemetery - in the latter it's more sombre with only funerals, grieving and private family thoughts and occasions.0 -
It would be lovely and quiet, and as for resale I think there are a fair few people like me who wouldn't be bothered.
Far rather live next to a cemetery than a pub!0 -
I think it's all right to live next to a cemetery, I have a relative who lives beside one and he says its so peaceful and quiet.0
