Samsung Warranty issues
Hi All
I just tried to take my phone to Samsung repair centre and they said that because I purchased it from Ebay/CEX/musicmagpie etc that they don't honour those warranties even though the phone is still in warranty.
Has anyone else had the same issue and how did you get around it ?
Thanks

A warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and the manufacturer can limit it should they wish. It's not unusual for a warranty to be limited to the original purchaser.
You'll need to take the handset back to the retailer. It's one of the drawbacks of buying a secondhand phone.0 -
Do apple do this ? or any other company or is it just samsung0

Many companies do not allow warranty on Second hand stuff .
Samsungs warranty was to the original purchaser its no longer in Warranty once sold on .
However Consumer Rights are against the vendor .0 -
But surely the warranty is with the product and not the individual. How can a company simply discharge a manufacturing fault by simply stating that you didn t but it brand new. Surely it's not relevant who owns the product. The fact is that the product had a manufacturing fault and is within warranty0

The warranty is essentially a contract between the original buyer and the manufacturer, unless the manufacturer agrees it cannot be transferred to a third party.
There is no right to a warranty, you need to take it up with your retailer who sold the item to you, CEX for example, will offer their own 24 month warranty when they sell the item.====0 -
You didn't understand my earlier post, the warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. A company doesn't have to give you one, so anything they do give you can have any restrictions they choose.
In your case, the warranty on that phone ended when the original owner sold it on.
Remember your statutory rights are always with the vendor, not the manufacturer, any warranty is in addition.0 -
Who did you purchase the handset from, and did they give you any form of warranty when you obtained it?It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

There you go, you'd already been told four times that it was the retailer who was responsible. Posts 2, 4, 6 & 70
