Pretty sure it's been posted before but if the new provider takes over in say mid January why do they require my meter readings now. If I wait until nearer the takeover date to provide my meter readings will I be paying the one select rate or the new providers rate for energy used.0

The takeover date was 14 December.
Together Energy will automatically take over your account on Friday 14 December without any action needed from you

This is the temporary tariff that Together Energy have put me on. I have put the details into the Energy Club and it is still a competitive price. They have said that they will confirm a tariff at a later date.
Elec 15.02p Standing charge p/day 25.09p
Gas 3.74p Standing charge p/day 19.06p0 -
Here's a new twist on this saga:
OFGEM forcibly moved me to Together Energy when OneSelect crashed. I could not any response from TE so I started a switch away to a proper firm. The switch has been 'blocked' by 'the industry'. Great. So I am forcibly taken to TE and prevented from switching because I supposedly was already in a switch not of my doing.
OFGEM is a load of ****. I have complained to them about this and await any sort of reply.

The domestic energy sector’s processes and procedures are not renowned for their speed which is why suppliers have 35 days to takeover a supply. Under SoLR procedures, there is no cooling off period so it could be argued that 21 days is a more realistic timescale. Your transfer has presumably been blocked because there is a transfer already in progress - presumably from the the failed supplier to the SoLR. Attempts to switch when there is a transfer in progress are invariably blocked.
You are annoyed - but why? We are all responsible for our choice of supplier. If my chosen supplier fails, then I would blame myself for making a poor decision. The SoLR Regulations exist so that your lights do not go out whilst you wait for a new supplier of your choice to takeover your supply. It is is similar to the Deemed Contract that we enter into when moving into a new property.
Yes, the tariff offered by the SoLR may not be competitive. You can switch without penalty. In truth, how much extra would you pay the SoLR for say a month of supply?
The SoLR Regulations are not perfect but are better than those in play if, say, your broadband provider went bust. In such a situation, you would lose your BB service for some days, and any credit balance on your account would disappear.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hmmm, so I had seen the writing on the wall (raising my DD twice even though I was in credit) for OneSelect, my tariff was due to expire in Feb 2019, but I had luckily just switched providers which completed on Dec 5th.
My old One select DD was still open as I was due £35.41 credit back.
On Dec 11th OneSelect took another £122, even though my final bill and account closure was Dec 5th.
So now I'm owed £157.41, when they went under.
I've had no comms from Total Energy, and no refund of credit.. Possibly as I'm no longer a OneSelect customer.
I guess I'll be on the phone tomorrow...0 -

A Direct Debit does what it says on the tin, it's used to take (debit) money from your account, it isn't used to pay money into your account.0
