Bit late to the party but please put me down for 18k. I have 5k saved already so far, but our major one-time costs this year are now covered so we are putting our heads down and focusing on the saving again.

Added to the sheet - you are number 180 :)

Apologies for the lack of updates. The summer holidays with a four year old and one year old took up a lot more energy than I realised :o plus trying to keep my blog/youtube/va services going meant something was going to be dropped.

Anyway, spreadsheet is updated! Some fab numbers on there :D

  • Another £250 here. Still covering more costs than normal plus some fun stuff this summer.

I don't count savings pots with a short term aim of smoothing out annual costs as for me this is about paying off the mortgage and putting more into a pension.

Slowlyfading thanks for all your hard work for us on the thread. Well done everyone, keep it up!
  • Thanks for updating slowlyfading, I hope you have had a great summer with your little ones.

I have just had through the first half of my MAHOOSIVE expenses claim, so I am going to meet my savings target this year! :j  :T

In stark contrast to those already hitting their targets (wow guys!!), August is a very odd month for me: I've been blown away by a massive unexpected payrise at work as well as a discretionary bonus... and I've already spent the next few months' uplift and the bonus on a holiday!

As I don't like red or orange in my YNAB, I'm accounting for this by a temporary reduction in my existing savings, to be topped up over the next few months with the uplift in pay, bonus and boyfriend's contribution to the holiday. Once that's all sorted, I'll be doubling my pension contribution and accelerating the paying off of my 0% debts (they're all on schedule, but I don't like having them!), as well as saving a bit per month towards holidays. How grown up!!

So, my figure for August is a shocking -£3,104.84!! But if all goes well, this debt to myself will be reduced by c.£2,000 by the end of this month, and eliminated by the end of November. (I'm turning a blind eye to the money we're going to spend while away for now...!!)

(ETA: £4.95 mortgage overpayment this month - every little helps!)

(Sorry SF, I submitted my form without accounting for my contribution to our joint emergency fund, so the figure in the form is wrong :) )

    Hello all!

Disappeared into living in the real world for a bit. Back to update the months of June-July-August with a total of £2854.48. Hmmm. really need to keep the holidays in check from now on. It was definitely worth it though.
