#26 sneaks back in again with a £2,500 boost into the savings. Managed to fineagle a bonus this year and promptly stashed the lot.

So I'm now 50% of the way towards my yearly goal.

    May £0
    June £0
    July £0
    August £2500

  • Unfortunately I'm posting a -£275.84 which is not unexpected and was kind of planned for. We haven't had a car for the last couple of years and mainly get around by bike or public transport but we hire a rental car for trips that take us further afield. Well, my parents offered us their old car for free and it seemed silly to say no so we incurred a few costs going to collect it and then getting roof bars fitted. Still, those costs outweighed the single cost of renting a car for our summer holiday so I'm happy with it. We also invested in some camping supplies that will last for a few years, so again not frivolous spending. At the end of that we managed a lovely family holiday camping in Norfolk, the first holiday we have had for years so not complaining.

Still, overall for the year we are tracking behind so I need to really focus going into the Autumn. Fortunately I've been putting money in the Christmas pot already so there shouldn't be any huge expenses there.

Thanks to everyone for the continued updates, it really helps.

  • Finally got around to totalling July - £755.32

Which takes me to Over 50% of the total. I have had a few unexpected spends this month so trying to be frugal but suspect August may not be the greatest.

No Thailand for me (very jealous of that though!) but we did take a short holiday to the English coast and are beginning to save for a bigger holiday later in the year, and I'm keeping that money separate from my reported savings. So my "official" July figures are the usual £275 savings, and £8.30 mortgage overpayment :)

Mini target achieved this month - our joint emergency fund is up to £2,000, and I'm getting close to personal savings of £3,000, about 8 months into home ownership, while paying off furniture and car loans. So the savings aren't increasing at crazy levels, but the savings are going up and the loans are coming down, and we're still having fun and going places :j

Hopefully we'll both be hearing whether we've got pay rises and/or bonuses within the next month or so. Usually I'm far more about salary than bonuses, but we need bonuses to be able to take a much-needed overseas holiday later this year, so fingers crossed!

July was not a good month savings-wise for me. :(

A big holiday was paid for so it's actually a minus figure...

    -£693.85 for July.

Having said that the holiday was paid for out of savings rather than borrowing so that's a big plus.

Keep up the good work guys.
  • Been missing in action for a few months(more than l care to back track) but l have had a kick up the bum and am back on it for what remains of August and the rest of the year. I know it will only be damage limitation but my spending cannot continue at its current rate. X

#114 here. Submitted the form with a £5,866 save achieved for August. Also updated target to £100K. Onwards and upwards :) Thanks,
  • #39 here.

I am really behind with submitting my figures for the past few months. I moved house and life got in the way but here it goes.

    May: MINUS £23.17
    June: PLUS £227.03
    July: PLUS £262.04
    Aug: PLUS £49

Living through a financially really difficult time period as although I have saved, I've also accumulated debt. Don't want to divulge the reason why but hopefully I'll be in a position to pick up more work come September onwards and tackle a very difficult situation, turn around my fortunes and be back on track to get my house deposit building up again . SF can you please be kind and do the honors and update the spreadsheet with these figures. :)

  • #46 declaring £250 for August. Am still very behind my target but it does feel good knowing that my total savings are increasing overall. I find that ensuring that I update this thread monthly keeps me focussed with the saving. :-)

Bit late to the party but please put me down for 18k. I have 5k saved already so far, but our major one-time costs this year are now covered so we are putting our heads down and focusing on the saving again.
