Firstly, I'm sorry it's taken me this long to update the spreadsheet - it is now up to date! I am trying to juggle too much at the moment and it shows.

Secondly, I am loving reading all of your replies and support for each other, it's fab :smileyhea

I feel like if you need to drop a ball while juggling, a spreadsheet on an internet forum that is just for looking at is the one to go for.

We appreciate you for doing what you do, and we appreciate that you have to do things that aren't this :D

A mixed month for me - savings of £345 which is pretty good considering. I had a bunch of extra income and a bunch of extra expenses, so I'm pleased that this has balanced out at slightly above my monthly target. And, of course, a little mortgage overpayment of £5.70 :j

This month coming is going to be expensive as we have a bunch of work to be done to the house. I'm hoping I can still save something though :)

I'm a bit late to the discussion about "low" savings but thought I'd add my two pennies (pun intended). A year or two ago I was on here happily reporting savings of £1,000+ every month, and now here I am in the low £100s. My income has slightly improved in that time but my expenses have massively increased as we bought a house last year. Personally, I'm much, much happier reporting low savings and knowing that I'm looking after my beautiful house, rather than continuing to save lots and lots but not putting anything towards my home.

Everyone's circumstances are different and saving massive amounts isn't everything. Yes it would be great to be savings £1,000s again, and genuine congratulations to those who are, but the most important thing is to save something, even if not every month, at least on average :)

I'm another one who was able to save thousands just a couple of years ago but I was miserable in my job and working stupid hours. Since making the decision a year ago to change career and go part time I'm so much happier so that balances out the savings being pennies now.

I'm reporting £3,648 for the month of May.

    Much better than last month.

However June will be low as I'll have my tax bill. Also got a speeding ticket through for doing 35mph in a 30 zone :(

That's not going to be cheap.

Gosh - bad luck - that is the minimum speed they prosecute at over here (I happen to know because our traffic survey reports for the Village splits the 65% of speeding traffic into 58% at 35 and over (they title it prosecutable speed) and the other 7% at between 30 and 34mph :(

  • Thank you! :j
  • Sorry, sent too early - meant to say thank you for the welcome and the lovely comments and thank you for adding me to the spreadsheet, @slowlyfading! 😊 I confess that I get paid very sporadically and was waiting for a larger cheque, so the savings are a bit of a cheat - making up the remaining £2/3k from what’s left will be the real struggle!

My savings may dwindle to nothing as DH tells me he's handing in his notice today.

April was an interesting month for me. I had a short holiday which I had saved for so took money from savings to spend while away. Luckily April’s pay is the first month of boosted pay following a pay rise so I was able to replenish it immediately meaning that savings account remains level.

Other savings stayed fairly normal so declaring an amount of £653.35 for April.

I’m looking forward to totalling up May’s savings already!!
