No 12 reporting £1325 in April. I'm really pleased as I have safely stashed the cash that used to be an AVC. I was worried about trusting myself with it. Now need to leave it alone!
(£1000 £250 and £75)0 -
Coming to report a lowly £40.94, all of which is interest.
All of my income is sitting in my YNAB budget categories at the moment, as I am paying double rent for three months. I should get most of it back on expenses, but that will take until at least late June before it starts to trickle back. As the expenses come in, they should be able to go into savings then.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

Speaking about cars, I have always thought of it but can't justify it as of it. And people around me say I think too much about it!
Wonder how much you spent on your car?? Obviously put a small dent to the savings which I am always slightly wary of.
Well we spent just over £3400 between the 2 of us on car (in full), tax and insurance for the year. So I paid £1700 and just about managed that without dipping into my existing savings. It's not the newest, or most popular make/model, but so far it's been a great workhorse.
April was bonus month which equals bonus savings. £3830 put away in total.
Don't expect future months to come anywhere close, especially as my housing costs have just increased by 33% with flatmate moving out (will not be attempting to replace)Save 12K in 2018 #20 - £20,890/£18,000 (116%) November £1950

#112 reporting in for April.
This month I managed to save an additional £1,810. This brings my total for the year to £4,945.
Definitely will be saving less in May and June, as just had the car serviced, council tax and water bills have restarted for the year and MOT and Car insurance are both due.Save £12k in 2023 #17: £19,085/£24,000 (79%)

#88 reporting a minus figure of £245.94. Expensive month, youngest grandsons first birthday, down payment on a car and insurance for said car all conspired against me, Was also expecting redundancy payment to come through but that will come in May.
Actually looking at what I paid out this would have been a bonanza month for saving so I can still smile (through gritted teeth)

I look back at the cars I’ve had in the past and feel a bit sick. I’ve always purchased brand new cars in the past including luxury brands such as 2 X BMW, 2 x Jaguar and a Mercedes. When I think how much this has cost me I do regret it.
It was an adjustment at first but I now just buy a car as a item of purpose rather than the brand or as a “show item”. We have 2 cars in the house. One for me and one for my partner. As most of my mileage is with just me in the car I have a small compact vehicle. My partner has a slightly larger vehicle which we use for family trips when the compact isn’t big enough.
A lot of my neighbours still have luxury cars or oversized cars and I look at them now thinking how much they could save if they changed their approach.
I haven’t sat down and worked out how much I would have saved if I’d done this earlier but it would be a sizeable amount that would make a real difference to me in retirement.
I don’t think I’d buy a luxury brand again.0 -
#157 reporting £3557.87 for April. £3K of that has come from my matched betting profits that I have taken out.
I used to do MB a few years back and made a tidy sum of over £72K, but I was gubbed or closed down totally at literally all the bookies I did, so called it a day. Around the end of July last year I wondered whether there were any new bookies I could do or any angles left with low risk casino offers that I could have a go at. I decided that even if I could make £10 a week for minimal effort it would be better than nothing. I have surprised myself and made nearly £6K in 9 months. If I was starting out fresh I reckon I could easily make £1-2K per month, but with so few accounts that's not really likely for me, so I am mainly shutting it down again at the end of the football season and only taking low hanging fruit that gets emailed to me.
Will likely have a negative month in May, as I have holidays to pay for, but the year is going well so far.0 -
bioboybill well done. I'm afraid it falls into the category of the dark arts (together with plastering) in this householdSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Ok, so apologies for being quiet.
I had a house move and lots of stuff to sort. I also had a difficult month financially after work manage to pay me £775 less than they should have!
Getting back on track now. Have (finally) updated for March and will get there with April (although with the lack of pay I don't think it will be much) and then back on the horse!
Also managed to get a 2K pay increase this financial year so I'm hoping that will help the totals!!0 -
Morning folks, number 69 declaring £3380 for April. This takes my total up to £13,310:).
