this comment from someone who is "staff" says it all I think! I'm gonna give it a miss after all...

I would not recommend using it as a main sim, as there is still a lot of issues with number porting. As a spare sim its awesome. :money:

    Some questions :)

    1. Which mobile network, if any, does Blyk run off?

    2. What are the charges for roaming?

    3. I may decide to access the internet via my mobile. What are the data charges? Is there an unlimited data plan?

    4. What problems are people having with porting?

My sim card has arrived and I want to start using it!

When you enter another country, go into select operator manually and choose Orange (if available),

Blyk will let you recieve and send text messages for free.

You can also recieve brand messages and reply to ^ as well.

    I have successfully tried it.

(You still can't make calls and wap is unavailable on free credits)

How do I manually select a network?

On Nokia phones, you must: Select Menu > Settings > Select Phone Settings >

Select Network Selection > Choose Manual.

This is off the blyk forum. Blyk have now said you cannot do this any more however well worth having a go if you are abroad. :p

Do not port your number over, they are completely incompetent. I phoned up to port on 23rd October and I am still waiting. They won't give me any information on what's happening they just say they will ring me when they have more information that was 2 weeks ago.

Is there an advantage to using a personal invitation as opposed to the standard one?

    What is AFAIK?

What problems are people having with porting?

I am yet to activate my Blyk sim card - how long do I have to do this before it 'expires'? I wish to start the porting process from t-mobile to Blyk before even having used this new service. Is this possible?

The problem is they have a really long wait to port numbers in yet they don't tell you this when you ring up to port. You just find out when your number hasn't been ported on the date they say. They keep blaming it on some other company but at the end of the day its there responsibility to get this sorted.
