Been doing some sums this morning... (:o)
Thanks to the 2018 MFW challenge (very motivating and kept me focused:T) I OP’d an amount just over the amount of interest I was charged on my mortgage for the year. This means that all my regular MPs came straight off the outstanding capital :j
If I can continue to do that, my mortgage should be repaid in full in a little over 9 years time, cutting about 4.5 years off the term and about 6 months before my 60th birthday
I hope to improve on this further, but in itself the thought of this is very motivating
(Originally, the mortgage term would have had it repaid in April 2025, but due to ‘affordability’, in order for the lender to allow me to take it over in my sole name when I got divorced, I had to pretty much double the remaining term, extending the repayment term to September 2032! )
Being on a low income, my OPs consist of ‘extra’ monies from surveys etc as there is little surplus for OPs if I also want to live a little and not just exist.. Getting that balance is really important to me
But chipping away at the mortgage, however small the amounts, is really valuable to me too, and every little helps!
Thanks hiddenshadow and pawlala for the 2018 challenge, and thank you julicorn for taking the challenge forward in 2019.
This really is going to make a huge difference
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
Please can I sign up? I am a newbie and we will aim to overpay £8000 in 2019. Happy New Year!
I am happy with any number.0 -
That's great progress jackieblack! Amazing to see how those overpayments reduce the term, isn't it? Sounds like you'll get much closer to your original payoff date than initially thought!jackieblack wrote: »Been doing some sums this morning... (:o)
