@Confusedftb. Congrats on the house purchase. I have an offset mortgage so am able to make unlimited ‘overpayments’ without any penalties. Good luck with MFW2020!

    Thank you

maybe i could switch into a offset mortgage after the fixed term ends.

at the moment the 2% for 5 years on a 80% LTV was the best deal i could get based on our job types.

Lender tells me that the max i could pay per month is £999.99

I will aim for the full but, being realistic and keeping other associated costs of moving into a new home, i would assume £500 would be a good figure each month, and any extra would be cherry on top.
  • Hi All,

    # 15 Miss Pinky here checking in with Novembers total. Ive been making small £50 payments here and there with a couple of larger payments and got paid today so threw a little more at it. Just tallied it up and total for Nov is:

    £1225.00!

This means I have reached my target for this year but I have still £2250 to pay by end of Feb as I want to pay my max 10% allowance and this is when it refreshes. I still have December to put something more in but it won't be anywhere near £2250 but there is no urgency to do this until Feb.

#30 here: total OPs for November are £253.49 - I don't think I posted anything earlier in the month so it's a straightforward amount to add please.

I hit the year's total last month but I'm addicted to overpaying and, in answer to the point above about penalties for overpaying, I'm so close to the end of the mortgage that I've gone onto variable rate and am overpaying more than I lose to higher interest. I hope to be paid in full by the end of the financial year, which is four years ahead of the expected date (and I've only been OPing for the last little bit of the mortgage).

I've had a bit of time on the train, and made a new thread for the MFW 2020 challenge. If you would like to take part (again) next year, please head this way and let me know. :)
  • Hi Julicorn,

I am definitely up for the 2020 challenge!

Thank you so much for running the 2019 one.

My overpayments for November are £350

    £10,311/£15,000 for the year.

I'm very pleased as this is the most we have ever overpaid! I will try and add to it even if it's a tiny bit in December but won't be meeting my target.

    Onwards and upwards!
