I am now mortgage free!!! :j:j:j

Thank you everyone and especially you juliecorn for keeping this thread running - pretty sure that without it I wouldn't have got to this point for years to come! :D

    Congratulations and well done, squirrelgirl!:j:beer:
  • Thank you islelm, Suffolk lass & julicorn :D

It's feels real today...the money has cleared and the balance gone :D :j

Just wanted to say that it's really worth the effort - my smallest op was 11p, my largest 4k but despite the difference in size, they both had an impact on the balance and it was the impact it had in my head that really mattered - I was doing what I could to become mf ;) now I'm there, I just wanted to reassure anyone who feels at times that it's insurmountable that it's worth ploughing on, a penny at a time if needed ;)

A great way to end the year.

Any new goals or you planning to enjoy the 'extra' money?. I know as the end of the mortgage approaches for us (still 3 years away but feels more achievable every month). I do wonder whether we'll want a new goal straight away as we're so used to aiming for something.
Emergency fund saved, we did it!!

    2020 #140 MFW £10,250.25/£9,500.00

    2018 #143 MFW £ 6,903.63/£6,500.00
MFW balance as at 31 Dec 19 77,875.00. Original end date 2043  goal 2023
  • Thanks teameffort! :D

We still have goals to achieve over the next 24 months - some are pleasurable (holidays), some are necessary (garden) and some are tidying of loose ends (clearing very old, interest free debt).

In all honesty, it's a redirection of funds now :rotfl: but it's lovely to be in the position where we can :D

I'm looking forward to being able to keep the focus on being financially responsible but much more at my leisure...the urgency has gone now that the mortgage has - if all goes to hell in a handcart tomorrow, at least I'll have a roof over my head ;) - so I have much more flexibility in how and when we do stuff and that's a nice feeling :D
